For climbers, there is really nothing else unless you want to pay the money for a guide book everywhere you go. Mountain project really has an amazing amount of climbing to look into and find for what it is.The only reason I didn’t do a full 5 stars would be the apps user friendliness. It has been getting consistently better but in my opinion one of the biggest benefits of the app is photos and often my app glitches and won’t save the photos even after they are downloaded for offline viewing (most places I climb don’t have service). Other than that they have made some other big improvements like book marking and i hope more people continue to use it so it can be even more useful.

Most comprehensive climbing app I’m aware of. Pretty much every climber uses it and saves carrying up a guidebook. Needs some fixes tho, comments always dory oldest first, and offers no way to change it. Went to a local crag and ended up taking a nasty trail that has been marked as “closed” in new comments, but 12 year old comments were what showed up first and took me the wrong way. Photos are also difficult to view, and I still can’t figure out the proper motion to open their descriptions (helpful for topo labeling). Just make it so you tap and they expand. Would love if they could help make identifying routes in areas easier, so everyone isn’t playing the “what are you on? Okay what’s next it? Is that on MP?” game trying to figure out what they’re climbing. Maybe add a feature where users can submit a specific photo for the belay spot?

For an app as ubiquitous as this one, it doesn’t have the best user interface. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mountain Project and I am very happy it exists, but it could use an update to improve user experiences. There’s some confusing parts about climbs within areas. Sometimes I find boulders by zooming in on an area that weren’t found when searching through the overall area section. Also sometimes find grading to be a bit strange as in some boulders can only be graded as sport routes in the ticks. Most importantly though, an account page would be great. There is a ticks page where you can see your ticks, but having a page where you can see your profile, organize your ticks, comments, and first ascents would be really awesome. Essential app to the community though, so thank you.

Love the app, use it all the time! But definitely could have some improvements. My biggest issue is that there appears to be no way to add comments from the app itself. I can add ticks, but no comments to the main page for an area or individual climb. I’ve been able to add comments if I use my computer to go to the website, but then when I go back to the app my comments never show up in the app, so what’s the point? I’ve even updated the app and that does nothing. Currently no way to sort comments either so oldest are on top, and I missed the fact that newer comments stated the area I was hiking to was closed. I tried to post a comment stating that the area is still closed, but it doesn’t show up in the app.
