more Started cold plunging in January ‘25 after my wife got me a tub for Christmas (kind of thought she was joking). This app helped me with tracking as I extended my time and then lowered the temp. I get a lot of the subjective benefits of cold plunging and going back and seeing my plunges on this app as it compares to my other health data is really valuable in seeing the benefits. Love the watch app. Only suggestion would be to app a temperature measurement for indoor tracking as well. Would love to have that correlate with my tub’s measured temp.
Developer Response Love that what started as a Christmas surprise turned into a real habit. It’s great to hear the app has helped you progressively extend time, lower the temp, and actually see the benefits reflected alongside your other health data, that’s exactly the kind of long-term story we hope to support. And thanks for the indoor temp idea too, definitely noted.

This one is all about the Apple Watch. The session end screen finally shows you a summary of your cold plunge session, and a few polishing fixes.
- Session Summary on Apple Watch: your duration now takes center stage, with max heart rate, water temperature and air temperature below it.
- More accurate max heart rate: only beats recorded during the plunge count. Previously a resting reading taken just before you got in could sneak into the number.
- The discard button is clearer: the cross is now red, so it's never confused with dismissing the screen.
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy for your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.20.3 Sep 13
A small update with a few fixes and refinements:
- Fixed an issue where selecting a temperature, duration, or week range in the wheel picker sometimes wouldn't register
- Improved the timing of review prompts so they show up less often and at better moments
- Under the hood improvements that make the app render a little smoother
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy on your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.20.2 Aug 1
Our biggest update yet is here, and it's all about helping you turn cold plunging into a lasting habit.
What's New:
- Journey: Streaks without the shame or guilt. Set your own rhythm of plunges per week and accumulate completed weeks that move you forward. Missed a week? Your progress stays, nothing lost. Just keep going.
- Stages: As your completed weeks add up, you'll move through stages that reflect where you are in your cold plunge journey. Watch your practice grow from day one onward.
- Rest Mode: Are you traveling, sick, or recovering? Switch on Rest Mode anytime to pause without breaking your stride. Because knowing when to rest matters just as much.
Also in this release:
- Fixed music from other apps (like Spotify) getting muted when you start the timer. Plunge to your own soundtrack again.
- After finishing a cold plunge, you'll now head straight back to the home screen.
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy on your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.20.1 Jun 16
IceBuddy gets a fresh new look!
What's new:
- Liquid Glass design: The app has been redesigned with Apple's new Liquid Glass design language. Everything feels lighter, more fluid, and right at home on iOS 26
- New app icon: The icon has been adapted to Liquid Glass too—take a look on your home screen!
- Bug fix: Resolved an edge case where ending a session with 0 duration on Apple Watch wouldn't behave correctly.
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy on your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.19.1 May 18
A small but important patch — here's what changed:
- We discovered that some users with more than 100 cold plunge images were having their older media unexpectedly removed. This has been fixed, and we've added better alerts to prevent anything like this from happening again. We're truly sorry to anyone who lost photos.
- Fixed a Strava background sync getting stuck in a loop when a conflicting activity already existed (for example, one imported from Garmin). A manual "Sync to Strava" button per session is coming in a future update so you can re-sync any affected plunges.
- A few small UI fixes.
Thank you for your patience and continued support. Happy plunging!
2.18.1 May 10
Your watch face, meet IceBuddy.
You can now add an IceBuddy complication to your favorite Apple Watch face for instant one-tap access to start a cold plunge — no digging through apps required.
Happy plunging!
2.18.0 May 6
Fixed a bug where cold plunges recorded on Apple Watch would occasionally save twice due to a timing issue.
2.17.1 Apr 28
This update is all about making your Apple Watch experience even better.
What's new:
- Countdown Timer: A new countdown before your session starts on the watch app. You can adjust the length to your liking.
- Redesigned Extra Time: When going over your goal time, you can now see your heart rate and water temperature throughout. At the end, choose whether to save your plunge with or without the extra time.
- Haptic Feedback: A subtle tap on your wrist during the final 3 seconds of your goal time—so you know the finish line is near without looking at your watch.
- Fixed missing remaining time announcements at the 15s and 45s intervals in the iOS App.
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy on your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.17.0 Apr 24
A handful of fixes and improvements in this one:
- Added a note to the Strava integration explaining why IceBuddy requests access to private activities.
- Water temperature sensor readings now use the minimum recorded temperature instead of the average, giving you a more accurate read of what you actually plunged into.
- Fixed a bug where swiping back was possible after a session had already started.
- Fixed an issue where audio from other apps would pause or get stuck ducked when a session began.
- Resolved rendering lag in the Insights charts.
- Several small UI polish fixes throughout the app.
- Early access features have now moved to premium, as previously announced. Thank you to everyone who tried them out during the preview window. Your feedback made them better.
Happy plunging!

2.15.1 Mar 30
This update brings a small but very practical improvement for Apple Watch users, plus a clearer water temperature experience.
What’s new:
• Automatic Water Lock: Water Lock is now enabled automatically when a session starts to prevent accidental taps during your plunge. Prefer manual control? You can turn this off in settings.
• Redesigned Water Temperature Screens: It’s now clearer when the Apple Watch water temperature sensor is being used. The screen will also warn you if the temperature can’t be saved to Health due to missing permissions.
• More Reliable Outside Temperature: Fixed an issue where outside temperature could occasionally be missing when the network connection was unstable.
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy for your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.15.0 Mar 16
A quick fix to address an issue that prevented water temperature from being recorded due to a missing entitlement. Everything should now work as expected again.
Thanks for your patience, and happy plunging!
2.14.1 Mar 11
This update brings some highly requested features, with extra love for Apple Watch users:
• Extra Time on Apple Watch: The extra time feature is now available on watchOS. Stay in the cold a little longer and add time right from your wrist.
• Water Temperature from Apple Watch: If your Apple Watch supports it, IceBuddy can now record the water temperature directly from the watch sensor during your plunge.
• Improved Digital Crown Control: Adjusting the water temperature on watchOS is now less sensitive, making it easier to dial in the exact value.
• watchOS UI Improvements: Several interface tweaks to better align with Apple’s design standards and make the experience feel more at home on your wrist.
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy for your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.14.0 Mar 9
A handful of meaningful updates to make your plunge experience smoother and more reliable.
What’s New:
• More Reliable Outside Temperature on Apple Watch: In some cases, recording the outside temperature would fail, for example due to network issues. We’ve added a failsafe so this should happen less often.
• Smoother Timer Finish: The session timer no longer flashes 0:00 at the end. It now transitions immediately and cleanly to the next screen.
• Extra Time, Now Front and Center: From your feedback, we learned that the “+ Extra Time” feature after a session wasn’t widely known. The button now appears immediately after your session ends, instead of after 15 seconds, making it easier to extend your plunge time on the spot.
• Minor UI & Navigation Improvements: Small refinements throughout the app to make everything feel more intuitive.
• Under-the-Hood Updates: We’ve made behind-the-scenes changes as a step toward adapting IceBuddy to Liquid Glass.
Thank you for the thoughtful feedback and for continuing to make IceBuddy part of your cold water therapy journey. Happy plunging!
2.13.3 Feb 21
A small but important cleanup to keep things tidy and easier to navigate:
• Fixed an issue where some images could appear under the wrong cold plunge in the feed. Your photos now stay exactly where they belong.
• Made it easier to find your profile. You can now jump to your profile page directly from the Home screen using the button in the top left corner.
Thanks for the reports and feedback. More improvements coming soon.
2.13.2 Jan 29
We fixed a couple of issues that were brought to our attention by the community:
• Duplicate workouts in Apple Health – If you were using Apple Watch with Apple Health enabled, you might have seen duplicate workout activities logged. This is now fixed. Thanks to Josip for reporting this!
• Background music interruption – Starting a cold plunge session would pause music from other apps like Spotify. This has been resolved, so you can now keep your music playing while you plunge. Thank you Nick for the feedback!
Thanks for helping make IceBuddy better with every release. Happy plunging!
2.13.1 Jan 20
The long-awaited Insights update is here!
You can now explore your cold plunge stats across different time horizons and actually dig into the data instead of just glancing at it.
What’s new:
• Historical Views: View your cold plunge stats by week, month, year, or all-time.
• Flexible Time Ranges: Go back in time on each view and select specific past periods to see how your consistency and habits evolved.
• Early Access: Most of these insights are currently free while we’re rolling them out and refining them. They’ll become part of the paid subscription later.
Thanks for sticking with IceBuddy and helping shape where it’s going. Happy plunging!
2.13.0 Jan 15
We’ve added a direct link to the IceBuddy WhatsApp community in the Settings screen.
The community a place to connect with other cold plunge enthusiasts, whether you’re just getting started or have plenty of ice time under your belt. Share your experiences, ask questions, learn from each other, and stay motivated along the way.
Thanks for being part of the IceBuddy journey! More updates coming soon.

This release adds a small but useful upgrade to your plunge routine.
What’s new:
• Custom Timer Sounds: Choose from 17 unique sound options. From encouraging vocals and applause to alphorn, tribal or viking-style tones, dramatic booms, and even a wolf howl or hilarious rooster! Thank you for trusting IceBuddy for your cold water therapy journey. More improvements are on the way.
2.10.0 11/24/2025
We’ve cleaned up a few issues in this version:
• Outside Temperature Missing: When the app was in the background and your countdown finished, outside temperature wasn’t being saved. This is now resolved.
• Heart Rate Data Not Saved: Some Apple Watch–recorded plunges were missing heart rate data. If this happened to you, please open IceBuddy settings and re-enable Apple Health, then double-check that heart rate permissions are granted in your iPhone Settings.
• iOS 26 Layout Fixes: Certain screens weren’t rendering correctly on iOS 26. Those layouts are now fixed.
• Rare Health Chart Crash: Tapping a specific section of the health chart could cause a crash. This shouldn’t happen anymore.
• Better Countdown Formatting: Countdowns longer than one minute now display more cleanly.
Thank you for trusting IceBuddy on your cold water therapy journey. New exciting features on the way!
