I’ve been using this as a trial for about a month. I’m a student pilot and I’ve been using it in my flights. I’ve tried the following moving map GPS apps: Foreflight, FlyQ, Garmin Pilot, Airmate, and Wing X. Out of all of these iFlyGPS has been my favorite for several reasons. First, the layout and design of the app just makes sense to me. Everything is where I expect it to be and behaves the way I think it should. This alone is a huge selling point to me. Another thing that impresses me is that it runs well even on my old iPad Air 2. The other apps either aren’t supported or the old iPad cannot handle them. Something about how iFlyGPS’s design is just very efficient. Finally the app is very inexpensive and I see them running deals fairly often. I see they are designing a new system called iFlyEFB and they say if you pay for one you will get both. That’s nice as well. My only negative points for this app is that the buttons look like they are from Windows 3 and when scrolling around the app the terrain has to load in, however it is very quick. Neither of these points matter to me very much and I think I will buy this software over the others I have used. This is definitely my favorite and especially if you are a private pilot and don’t plan on going commercial this is everything you’d need.
Fast, simple and easy to use

You will not get lost using iFly GPS. Others are simply slow in painting on the screen or too confusing but when using iFly you will find it intuitive and consistent user experience. Map updates always work, they include the necessary frequencies, approach plates, fuel prices and FBO details at a finger tip. What I like the best is the flight history allowing me to double check my pilot log book entries and when upgrading from one device to another the history follows me around. I wish there where more global maps such as beyond the Bahamas and the ability to allow pilots to enter FBO and airport information which could be viewed by other pilots such as fee’s or FBO’s to use or avoid. Pilots like to help each other and this feature would be a hit on day one, especially when flying international. Also being able to submit e-APIS details from iFly would be another great bonus. Works perfect with Stratux ADS-B every time. And you can’t beat the price. There is never a worry about adding on to the subscription and the company is beyond fair for renewals. I use the app on an iPad mini and iPhone. The IPhone mainly to plan flights when I am curious and the iPad mini for actual flying. The iPhone comes in handy as an immediate backup in flight in a pinch. It has saved me once already. Don’t look any further as this is simply the best out there.

Thanks hanger8!
Custom waypoints
N747T
Over the last several years ,I have flown all the lower 48 states. During these flights ,we added custom waypoints . They give us at a glance , restroom stops , fuel stops ( we use Mo-gas, and that is hard to find in some areas ) . We also have courtesy cars and hotels. Now when we plan a flight , we can quickly plan stops. We love this app! It is intuitive and fast. Our negatives on the app is that it doesn’t, give mo-gas locations, and the FBO info all needs updated. we have found more times than not , it to be inaccurate. So we land and then create custom waypoints info. Foreflight has better FBO information, but it costs too much and is more distracting to use in flight. This app could use a pilot entered fuel update tab , like Waze has, to enter current fuel options and prices at each stop.
Start with iFly
goneflyingagain
I haven’t tried them all. I started with iFly and loved it so much that I never looked back. Sure, I read about the others time and again, but given the philosophy behind the intuitive interface and continuous improvement exhibited by the Adventure Pilot team, I could not find any sensible reason to fritter away my time trying to learn another more confusing system. I use it on an iPad, iPhone, and an iFly 740. They make it so easy to use and to share the data subscription across platforms and devices it is one of the easiest “go/no go” decisions I’ve ever been faced with.
