A great start, but not there yet

I love the Aiden’s output, but the main issues I have are its input. You can control the machine from the machine, but it is painful to do what it was designed to do. That is where this app comes in. It should make the input side 100% better. Unfortunately that has not been my experience so far.I was able to setup and configure my account, as well as connect the Aiden to my network as well as see the built in profiles and make new ones. There is even a schedule tab to make scheduling easier if it worked. Unfortunately it seems as though a lot of the functionality does nothing. While I made schedules for brewing, it never actually runs them. If I have a profile I want to build on, there is a copy button that as far as I can tell does nothing.I am newer to the Aiden, but it appears that it was launched before the app was really done, with promises that it would improve in the coming months. Most of those reviews are a year old now, but the app still needs a bit of attention to make it functional.There are a lot of features I think could really improve the tool, but I would really love to see Fellow put a little love into the basics first before tackling things like a profile library for users to search and share, or being able to give the weight of coffee and have the profile/recipe determine water based on that.I love the Aiden and my coffee I get from it. I really appreciate the engineering and work put into making an amazing cup of coffee. I hope to see the same love of quality come to this app and the experience it brings as well.

I think if there was a regular release cadence to fix bugs or improve the app and add features I would be way more forgiving of it. But I’ve had my Aiden for about a year now and the app (and the Aiden firmware) have almost all the same wonky bugs they had when I bought it. So I’ve lost hope that Fellow is going to improve their software—which really stinks for a coffee maker that relies so heavily on it (be it an app or the software on the coffee maker itself).

Compatibility Issues with Unifi

I have a professionally installed Unifi network that has 100 WiFi connected devices to it. I have had issues with both the Aiden and Espresso Series 1 connecting. I paid my network company to come to my house to attempt to connect both of these products with no success. After doing some research Fellow has decided to use a WiFi chipset that is not compatible with the Unifi network system. There troubleshoot options are not helpful and I have added 4 hours of network labor to the cost of these products to attempt to get them to work. At this point I would be cautious of purchasing either of these products till Fellow provides a firmware update that provides compatibility with the Unifi system.

This is truly one of the most pointless applications I’ve ever put on my phone. It works about 25% of the time and has virtually no functionality. There’s no option to actually start a brew, you just have to schedule it and hope you scheduled it in advanced enough (sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes 20, neither is consistent). It needs some serious work. It’s actually a very pleasant app to look at but please, developers, add something useful to this app.
