I think there is a lot of room for improvement but these are the few changes i think would have the biggest impact on usability1. display bookmarked stations in the “nearby” page even if they are not nearby. This is the biggest thing that would allow me to see the important things without having to tap anything after opening the app. Especially because the location displayed is often not up to date and instead a location i was at yesterday2. save preferences for filtering by bus / rail in the nearby tab after closing the app. for commuting to work only take the train and it would be great to not have to do those extra selections every time3. please let us add specific station tiles like they appear in the nearby section as widgets on the home screen, this would be amazing

Where do I see bookmarked stations?
deleted after 1 hour
App looks great and I appreciate the lack of ads, the only thing missing is a tab at the bottom to quickly look at your bookmarks instead of looking through the nearby stops

Please feel free to chat with us in the app. We're here to help! If you click on "Plan" you can click on Favorite and view the bus stops and stations you have bookmarked. -KB
Needs Work
every_nick_name_is_taken!?!?!
This app needs a lot of work to be useful. For starters - the inability to filter out only the routes I use is a problem - sure it’s nice to see everything when I’m in a different location - but day to day I want to see only my bus and metro route. I also can’t seem to favorite stops and see only those stops. Again, I don’t need to see arrivals for every bus. For stops at the beginning/end of line - it’s only showing data for one direction. I need the ability to switch from North to South (for example on the A27 at Pentagon). For metro - just copy what Metro Hero is doing. It’s so much better.

If you click on "Plan" at the bottom of the page, you can click on "Favorites" to see what you have saved. We've shared your feedback with our developers about the end-of-the-line stops. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. -KB
Hilariously bad
DMV john
Not sure what this is for. I downloaded it to see if any local bus service was operating after our winter storm. There was nothing that obviously had status data for buses. I tried the trip planner and it told me there were no services nearby, so presumably that means the bus that stops at the corner is not running now (not surprising given road conditions) - but just having a list of routes with status would be 100x more useful. The trip planning duplicates what’s in the SmarTrip app so I’m not even sure what this app is for.
Developer Response
Thank you for your feedback. During winter storms, delays, detours, or service suspensions may affect trip planning. If no trips appear nearby, service may be temporarily suspended or operating on a snow plan. You can also view operating bus service at wmata.com/snow –RT
