I have been a lifelong Spanish learner struggling to go from intermediate to fluent and it has been a struggle. I have seen the ads for so many Spanish immersion apps but until I started using Eppika, I can tell you that I have never been so encouraged like I am today. The stories are simple and interesting. They use the words I know and the new words I can guess what they mean by context. It is so important that I can fill in the blanks myself and not have to teach for a dictionary or look it up online. I feel like a match made in heaven for myself and this app as I can enjoy the free stories everyday and come back for the next day. I write out my translations and learn by contextual clues. I have a notebook already where I can notice my progress as I pick out more new words everyday. Thank you Eppika for your great app!

I really love this app! The way they have been able to recommend stories that are actually at my current reading level from the results of the proficiency quiz is so key to enjoying and staying motivated to practice. I’ve never had any success with gamified learning programs. They just aren’t that useful or fun for me, but I do love to read. I’m very happy to have found this option. I’m enjoying spending a little time practicing Spanish by reading every night before bed.

This app really doesn’t do much, but what it provides is good. It really perfectly matched my reading selections to my level of comprehension. It’s right where I want to be in my Spanish studies. However, there’s no way to translate phrases or sentences, one can only choose single words. Words, alone, have multiple meanings, and taken out of context you don’t always get the correct definition. I wish there were a way to select a group of words or even complete sentences. It would be cool if the app allowed copying a selection to paste into Google Translate, but that ability doesn’t exist. Sadly, I find myself wondering if it’d be better to use my library card , get some books and use Google to translate. Also, I have read reviews that reference audio, is the app supposed to read out loud so I can listen as I read? That would be awesome!

I have listened to a few stories on Eppika and overall have really enjoyed it. It is a great tool to have while I walk on the treadmill :)Pros: - Interesting stories, with a mix of classics and modern books - Highlighting text as it reads - Focus is on Spanish learning, so I have a lot of faith that the cons will be improved Cons: - AI or TTS narrator that does not always pronounce words in Spanish correctly - I was surprised Lessons in Chemistry got past editors! - No in-app translation or bookmarking. Imagine being able to bookmark words, create lists, it would be the dream! - Super minor and I’m just nitpicking at this point but the “best of the New York Times” section is called “Best Nyt” when it should at least be capitalized into “Best NYT”The foundation exists for this app to be one of the best language learning apps out there. I will absolutely change my rating if it improves. I love the idea of this app so much that I would work for Eppika if I could. (Hire me!)
