Just finished my first lesson, which is simply introducing myself—it botched the spelling of my name, but it picked up on all of the other words in my chosen language; so, that’s a win for me!

App has elements that could be great but sometimes it speaks to me in French but after a few days the audio cut out even after registering it. Disappointing mostly I can’t get it to talk to me. Also got stuck in lesson 2 and wouldn’t progress. Not happy at all. Since I wrote the above the developer has the problems and now I’m happy! The problem has reasserted itself and the audio won’t work. Disappointed! Too much hassle

It uses Romaji with AI

This app pushes for conversation which is great for learning to speak and exposes you to a lot of listening. When conversing with the Japanese speaking AI, in the chat box I was able to read its complete English translation, and the Japanese characters texted out. I asked the AI to write in Romaji in english, it did not work. Then I tried “Romaji, Kudasai”, the AI immediately complied and wrote everything in Romaji. No strict paywall yet. No issues for me like I saw in other reviews for this app. I can however read Hiragana and Katakana fairly well, no Kanji. My goal is to watch Japanese anime without subtitles. The Japanese AI sounds smooth and human. So far, great listening practice with an engaging speaking experience but you need to know basic sentence structure to engage with the AI. The AI won’t let you complete the short lessons(conversation) until you do the objective. This app is for those who are looking for a higher language level without a strict paywall.
