Informed without overwhelming

There is so much spin and an overwhelming onslaught of “breaking news” in the attention economy that it is exhausting. Kagi News is excellent because it gives multiple perspectives on the news once a day. We don’t need to constantly be updated. It allows me to be informed but also be present in my daily life without a constant barrage of alerts that pull me away from what really matters.

Unique idea, equal in execution

One of the best parts of Kagi is the ability to customize lenses and rank or exclude specific sources. Why can’t I do this in Kite News? I want to be able to build my own categories and my own sources. I want to downrank and uprank my own sources. I really like the app UI and the idea is sound, but this is just another news app that doesn’t respect the user interests and expects everyone to be the same.

As you noted, it’s currently more of a read-only experience, but we’re actively working on expanding functionality. Very soon, we’ll be introducing user preference syncing across devices with Kagi accounts.Your suggestions around customizable categories, source ranking, and filtering are excellent. It works well for a beta. Some missing features I’d like to see though. For example, being able to get news for certain sports, teams, etc. I don’t follow soccer/football but my sports news section is full of articles.
