Great concept but there's no way I can separate my two kids numbers on their swings. You have to use different bats in order to differentiate. The problem with that is the historical numbers showing improvement in the different metrics include data from all bats, in other words, it's impossible to analyze one of my boys progress because both of my boys numbers are mixed together. Would give it 1 star as it is also difficult to use and the app should clearly explain what each metric means when you click on it (small pop up box with an explanation and links to more info). Just a horrible user experience. I wouldn't recommend to anybody. Making me want to look into Diamond Kinetics.

I have coached baseball for 8 years. I also love working with data…. “What’s measured is managed and what’s managed is improved.”Blast is a great device/app to track swing power (bat speed, rotational acceleration), contact (attack angle, on plane efficiency) and consistency (early connection, connection at impact) and see improvement over time. In addition to the data, there is a library of videos/drills that explain each of these 3 components of the swing to help the player visualize his swing with drills to improve the areas that need work. The app does require an annual subscription. But, the annual subscription costs less than one private lesson and if you work with a coach who embraces this technology, your player will be ahead of the game. While the sensor tracks bat speed, it does not track 2 important aspects of the swing: exit velocity (ball speed off of the bat at impact) and swing decision timing (time from deciding to swing to contact). Paired with HitTrax or simply a Pocket Radar to periodically track exit velocity and you will have almost everything you need to improve and drive consistency in the swing. For swing decision timing, Win Reality has some great VR drills.
Misrepresented Product, Hostage Data, and Appalling Customer Service

My experience with Blast Motion has been nothing short of a complete disaster. I purchased an individual subscription through the app, only to discover the company misrepresented the product by failing to clearly state that an in-app subscription does not grant access to the website's "Blast Connect" portal—a key feature that includes CSV data export.Initial customer service was terrible, with the first representative flat-out lying by assuring me all website features were available in the app. Later, a supervisor admitted this was an "inaccuracy" but the damage was done. They then confirmed that if I were to accept their only resolution—cancelling, getting a refund, and re-subscribing via the website—I would permanently lose all my existing data.In short: they sold me a product under false pretenses, confirmed a crucial feature I need (data export) is unavailable in the app, and refuse to manually provide my data or offer any form of compensation other than returning the sensor for a full refund (and losing my data). My data is, for all intents and purposes, being held hostage. This company misled me, provided unacceptable support, and is now forcing my hand toward consumer dispute resolution and legal action. Do not waste your time or money.
Great App for Serious Training

Works really well and connects to my phone quickly and easily. The app provides a ton of valuable metrics that really help break down and understand each swing. The video capture feature is especially impressive — it automatically slows down right before contact and syncs perfectly with the performance metrics, which makes reviewing and improving mechanics much easier.The data is clear, detailed, and easy to navigate, whether you’re a player, coach, or parent tracking progress. I’m looking forward to trying out their tutorials next to take even more advantage of everything the app offers. Highly recommend!
