The app has trouble loading and usually takes multiple attempts. When trying to review camera footage it will constantly crash and then you have to start over. If you attempt to save a camera clip, you can’t do anything else until the clip saves or it will cancel it out and you have to start over. Attempting to manually scroll will through footage will sometimes switch you to a different camera completely. The delay while manually scrolling through time makes it almost impossible to actually review footage. Automated light settings eventually stop functioning and have to be redone. Turning lights off/on will not work consistently and will usually leave lights on a dim rather than off. Talking with my tech guys they say to just use a computer but that defeats the purpose since I would have to be at home if using my computer. It’s very frustrating to use and had I known better, I never would have installed the Elan system at all.Newest update to the app seems to have removed its ability to view camera on any device that has a VPN turned on. My dear old parents have this system after moving to a new house. It is one problem after another and they end up dumping money into their local tech guy to keep it running. Every time they call me to ask for help I just wish to god nobody had sold them this system because the reality is their use-case does not call for such a system. The entire Elan experience feels like it’s from 2009. I can never, ever recommend this setup for your general consumer. If you want three words to describe this product: Finnicky, antiquated, unintuitive.

We paid an exorbitant amount (compared to other video doorbell cameras) to upgrade & incorporate the Elan doorbell into our home automation system only to discover that it’s absolutely terrible — almost worthless. App rarely works on watch or iPhone — and apparently it does not work if you have another app open or are talking on your phone — pretty ridiculous!!! Also you can rarely use theDismiss or Cancel buttons so it’s blaring in the background when you answer the door. Seems that the touchscreen is the only reliable way to accomplish such a simple task. And the only way to get playback (which is one of the main reasons to have a doorbell camera) is to have an Elan NVR — all of our other cameras work with Luma NVR so it never entered our minds that we wouldn’t have playback capabilities. It’s just been an all-around failure. Definitely would NOT recommend the super expensive Elan doorbell cameras to anyone!!! Very limited functionality!!!!!!!!

There are so many things wrong with this app. Let’s start with my pros though.PROS-Simple design. It’s not pretty, but it’s simple. -Loads in very quickly. -Has potential if it worked. -When it works the temperature control is actually great! You can even set schedules. CONS-the app itself only works some of the time (crashes a lot). -logs me out when I update. If they saved my info it wouldn’t be a problem. -Music just doesn’t work. Let me clarify: Pandora works fine, but I personally don’t use Pandora. I would like to be able to listen to my own music from my phone. The worst part is that the app has the option, but it just doesn’t work! I can’t see my music at all. It just doesn’t load in. Again if you use Pandora it’s fine, but I don’t even think you can change the station. Hope you like the same Maroon 5 songs on repeat! -The words just straight up disappear. Id say about 75% of the time I have to restart the app multiple times to get words to appear. Usually it’s just blank buttons. -The air conditioner keeps resetting to 85° in the dead of summer. I’m not sure if this is the app switching back to default or the unit itself. I do know that I have a “permanent schedule” set so I think the app is just bugging out. I think the worst part is having to call back our IT guy constantly. I haven’t used the app in months since the start of the pandemic and I don’t miss it. Please keep in mind that I’m not some boomer that hates technology. Smart houses could be great, but this app needs some serious software updates and connection changes.
