New stage: Sight Reading. Read the notes on the staff, answer on the keyboard. Nine categories, 1,020 exercises — and none you can solve by fingers alone.
Ear training, play by ear, intervals, chords and rhythm — 15 games in one app.
Warm up your ears before singing, band, orchestra, choir, guitar or piano practice.
Harmonize teaches distance between notes by making you rebuild what you just heard. Your mic picks up your voice or instrument and shows how far off you are, in cents. No music theory needed: a friendly shrimp plays the example, and you copy it.
■ Build the interval
- Double Stop — add a second note on top of a reference: octave, perfect fifth, major third and more
- Chords — take one role inside a three-note chord and hold your part
- Moon — a slow, low-gravity version of Double Stop for advanced ears
- Low Register — the real bass range, so low that a phone speaker cannot reproduce the fundamental; you read the pitch from its overtones
- Trill — hold one finger down and press/lift with another. 6 fingerings x 36 exercises
■ Read the score
- Sight Reading — read the notes on the staff and answer on the two-row keyboard. The white keys are labeled with their note names, so you can count lines and spaces even if sheet music is new to you. 9 categories, 180 levels, 1,020 exercises
■ Rhythm
- Rhythm — tap along with the scrolling score
- Polyrhythm — two different pulses at once, one per hand
- Mimic Taiko — call and response on Japanese drums. Hear a pattern, play it back
- Silence — no sound at all. Measure time with your internal clock
■ Listen and remember
- Play by Ear — reproduce the melody you heard on the keyboard. 9 categories, 129 levels, 516 phrases
- Scales — trace a scale one note at a time
- Arpeggios — hear a broken chord and follow it
- Memory — a sound version of concentration: find the two takoyaki that ring alike
- Goldfish Scooping — memorize each swimming fish by its note, then scoop them in the order given
■ Tools
- Weekly Challenge — 5 tasks that change every week, with the example played only once. 3 runs per week, ranked on a Game Center weekly leaderboard
- Metronome
- Tuner — live readout in cents
■ Under the hood
- 14 instrument sounds to choose from
- Reference A from 440 to 446 Hz
- Note names in English, German, Japanese or Italian
- Rhythm games calibrate audio latency for your device
- Judged against just intonation, so it carries straight over to choir, wind band, orchestra and ensemble work
- A tutorial that gets you playing right away
■ Made for
- Singers who want to stop drifting off pitch
- Anyone training relative pitch
- Players who want to pick up tunes by ear
- Musicians chasing that moment when your note locks into the chord

I’d like the ability to choose different waveform types for the sound, or mix and match them (one note with a sine wave and another square, for example). It would be great to have more of everything, too!But this is fun.
The UI feedback is really clunky

The sliders on the left and right provide no visual feedback if they are being changed, and their parameters extend beyond the screen. So at times it’s hard to tell if you’re actually successful in adjusting the tone. Having the slider be a wheel, (visualize a mouse middle click wheel) would be a better system. The left slider seems to go behind the pause button, it’s hard to tell where the sliders actually end on the screen. If you want to continue raising the tone once you hit the top of the screen, the game instructs you to start at the bottom again. It’s not clear if that’s the same case for continuing to lower the tone after you touch the bottom of the screen, since the pause button is there. Does it work this way only if you start at the edges, or can you change the upper/lower limits of the slider if you start closer to the center? The UI doesn’t make that clear, and the fact that it’s a text box telling you to start at the bottom again is already an example of bad UI. There are also ads after every screen, but those can be turned off for a single $9.99 purchase. It’s a neat game, but the instructions and interface are way to too awkward.
This Game Is Great

I really love this app, and it challenges me in a fun way, one that pushes me further and encourages my ears and spirit. I am fluent in the world of music, and play both trombone and percussion instruments. Our Band director encouraged us today to get this app, and it is great that it is free and so fun to use!! I recommend this app to anyone who wants to go farther in the impressive world of music.
TERRIFIC for ANY MUSICIAN!

I’ve pretty much had this app since early 2020, and I’ve loved it ever since. I really love the additions that this app has added on especially the rhythm games, new pitch games, tuner, metronome, etc. I REALLY love this app and I can’t wait to see what can be furthermore done with this app and its possibilities.
Developer Response
Thank you for sticking with Harmonize since 2020 — that means a lot. We're still building: the next update brings a new practice stage and a number ofrefinements to the existing ones. It hasn't shipped yet, so please give it a little time.If there's something you'd like to see in Harmonize, we'd love to hear it.
■ A tuning guide for your first Double Stop questions
In the first 3 Unison and Octave questions, a pitch ruler appears on the left while you play, showing how far you are from the target line. When the two notes sound together, ripples spread out, and "Beats: fast / slow / gone" tells you when you are perfectly in tune.
■ A brand-new Tutorial
Practice on the same screen as Double Stop: listen to the example, watch how it's done, tune it yourself, then press GO. When you finish, you can jump straight into Double Stop.
■ Also
- Fixed a slight finger slip at the moment of lifting that could turn a correct answer into a miss
- Fixed question names and result text being cut off with larger text sizes
- Fixed the spelling of "Excellent!" on a 3-star clear
- The note on the purchase screen no longer breaks in the middle of a word
- Minor fixes and stability improvements
