Time saver
Hey You is a great App and I use it almost everyday to order my morning and afternoon coffee when I’m short on time. The only 2 qualms I have is that you have to “allow notifications” to be informed of when your order is ready - The App tends to send you advertising notices throughout the day. I’ve written to them asking if this can be rectified. It’s unnecessary and makes you actually resent the App.
My theory is:
If you’re using it, you’ll undoubtedly love it, if you love it, you’ll continually use it so the need for advertising you an App - that you’re already using - is not helpful it’s just a little intrusive.
Also, I can’t seem to get my notifications of an “order ready” to make a sound. I have to keep looking at my phone to check.
Other than those 2 things it’s fabulous. Thanks
Happy Caffeinated Monday Mornings
Well every morning really... Convenient, quick, no chance of a misheard order or forgetting to ask for 'extra hot' when you eventually get to the counter. You can also check out what is available at the cafe while stuck on the train/bus, work out what you want to order and don't have to hold other customers up while asking in store/ and being embarrassed by asking for prices. It's all there in the App. And for those worried about any animosity from other customers in store when you rock in like a VIP and head straight to the counter to pick up your order in any cafe whether you have been there before or not, let them be jealous, get over it or you could actually be nice and share your little secret with them!
Developer Response ,
Hi there, thanks so much for reaching out and letting us know. We're really glad to hear that you're loving the app!
Convenient but spammy
The core UI is fine, and if you order coffee from places that use it, and you are too lazy to bring your own cup, then it’s very convenient.
However, lately it has got extremely spammy. Eg about once or twice a week I get a notification from Hey You that it thinks it would be a great day for me to use it to order food or coffee. Ummmmm, that’s not what notifications are for.
Somewhere at Hey You there are probably some people who call themselves Engagement engineers or Growth engineers or something who have either done the maths or are just guessing, and think it’s better for them to abuse the notifications this way and get pliable people to use order coffee through the app more often, than to limit their use of notifications, and not make people like me delete the app. I wonder whether they’re actually measuring both those metrics when they report their successes?
