Update: thanks to the response below I have been able to tailor my notifications to a degree. I would still like to turn off warnings for Heatwaves (unless they are absolutely critical) but I have reduced the overall notifications. —————————————This new app is much easier to navigate than the old one and simple changes like making the Fire Danger Ratings easily accessible and easier to use are big improvements. However, much of this good work has been undone by the decision to show every single alert in the whole state. I imagine I will soon be notified if someone stubs their toe. What if I am only interested in bushfires? No, I am not allowed to decide that for myself. Instead I am told about heatwaves I already know about and trees down I don’t care about. Most of these don’t even tell me anything. Click on some ‘incidents’ for more details and it just takes you to another map with even more incidents. All this means I have now started to ignore the notifications as there are so many and many are pointless. I could maybe see the sense of being notified on the most critical things but everything else should be optional. Even bushfire - maybe you only care about a tree down 100kms away?

I find it frustrating to see there is a tree down somewhere in my watch zone but not knowing where until I open the app to find out. All other incidents list the suburb first so I can at least see at a glance whether it is in a location which will immediately affect me. Please list the suburb in a tree down notification, preferably before “Tree down”. I know trees are important but knowing where one has come down is more important. Thank you. Excellent, I now know if a fallen tree is going to be an issue to me. Thanks for making that clearer.

Prior feedback on how completed events are handled has been (partially) implemented with the ability to totally hide completed events, which does at least clear the display. The biggest weakness remains that going from the map screen or an alert message to the written text of the alert requires from 3 to 5 “for more information key presses” to get through as far as the actual text… with no actual information on the intermediate screen that isn’t present on every event. The user interface should be narrowly focused on getting the critical information to the users first - and that is usually contained in the actual MFS or CFS issued alert.… that and getting the MFS to mark their events as completed

The app is important as an early warning tool and easy to use. Got swamped with alerts though after the upgrade, because by default all incident types were active (personally, I only want to be alerted for fires). Wind direction and dynamic watch zones are missing features (on extreme/catastrophic days, I would want larger watch zones that include the possible origin of embers).
