Description
myVicRoads is the official VicRoads app, which means:
- Secure access to a digital copy of your driver licence,
- Better control of personal information shared when proving identity and age,
- Confidence having your licence verified with the secure in-app scanner,
- Keeping your personal information safe and secure with two-step verification, in-app PIN, and biometric login.
The Victorian Digital Driver Licence is being progressively rolled out and will be available throughout the state in 2024.
The app is also a quick gateway to your myVicRoads account where you can access a range of registration and licensing services online. In the app, go to settings in the top right corner and click ‘My account’ - no further login required.

When is it rolling out to the rest of VIC?
When will this be rolling out to places like Melbourne? How long is the trial going to last in Ballarat? It’s so hard to find relating information online, other than a few news articles. Would be awesome to have some explanations or updates on the VicRoads website.
The most confusing app I’ve ever used
You would think that with so many people trying to get their learners in victoria they would at least TRY and make their app easily accessible and clear to understand. But they haven’t.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to take my online learners test for two days now and I’ve genuinely made no progress. They tell you that you need to enrol for a course and that you can do so “from your dashboard”. Nowhere on the whole app can you find a “dashboard”. Don’t even get me started on finding the actual ONLINE test. The only information they give you about taking the test is that you can book to sit it in person, and then proceed to give no other information concerning the online aspect.
Not to mention, I’ve had to strictly use the web version on my laptop because on my phone it makes me use about three different types of login methods every. single. use. It’s the exact same for the myLearners app too. Online bank apps don’t even use this much security.
Victorian’s Deserve Better:
Victorians are still waiting for the convenience and security of electronic drivers licences. In today's digital age, there's no excuse for the lengthy delay in implementing this essential technology upgrade.
The benefits are clear:
- Instant access to your licence on your smartphone
- No more worrying about losing or damaging your physical card
- Contactless verification to protect your health and safety
So what's the holdup? Is the government prioritising revenue from replacement fees over serving its citizens?
It's time to demand action. Contact your state representatives today and tell them Victorians deserve the efficiency and peace of mind that digital licences provide. The technology exists - the only thing missing is the political will to put Victorians first.
Let your voice be heard. Together, we can bring Victoria's licencing system into the 21st century. The wait has been long enough.
