Always know how much energy you’re using
Our usage graphs show your historical and current usage data for electricity, hot water and natural gas. You can break it down by charges, billing period, month, day or even hour (for smart meter customers only for now). Or get even greater detail by cost or by kWh, MJ or units. It’s about making sure you know what you’ll be paying at bill time.

See your solar credits and the energy you’re saving
Want to check out the difference you’re making, saving on your bills and the environment? We’ve got that covered. You can see the total amount of solar you've fed back to the grid (under kWh), as well as the credits you've earned (under costs).

Life admin sorted in a few clicks
Set up all those things to make life easier like direct debit, email billing and concessions. Apply for a payment extension or update your details. You can enable bill reminders and bill prediction notifications (if you have a smart meter) so you’re ahead of the game. More detail please.

Love the app - weird thing to say about an energy provider but here we are. I switched to Origin because they offered the best 100% GreenPower deal and I love getting “emissions saved” on my PDF bills, but would like to see that incorporated into the app. Perhaps with some real life examples of what that means (e.g. 1 tonne is the equivalent of driving x km, or planting x number of trees, or wind turbines purchased).

I’d also love to get more detail from the history chart such as customising date ranges and selecting a particular data point and have it display the time/cost/usage for that period and so I could identify high-energy tasks.

I’ve been with Origin Energy since I started out living independently. It’s been well over 10 years now. I’ve always found them to be outstanding above the rest. And in times of the bad, they listened and offered a joint mission plan to get back on track with payment plans. Never had them disconnect me on any service. Moving home is also a breeze! Having 100% communication with them will always be the best method. They will listen, they will advise you a process to be taken, they will always keep you in the loop of everything including when things need a managerial authorisation on the account. And at times when you feel you’ve been overcharged, it pays to read up on technology as there are sometimes a delay between the release of the bill and when the money payments reached there accounts and reflects in the system. The app is amazing! Never had an issue with opening the app to check next payment instalments etc etc. in the entire time of having this app, I’ve only ever experience a glitch once! And that was way in the early days. I tend to get the bills in the app with a notification before I get the email advisement or text advisement. I’ve recently joined their Origin Broadband Service, I have Gas and Electricity and now Broadband too. They are outstanding! It’s a new service, but I tell you what though, having it all under one company is a f’n brilliant solution!!! Bring on another 10 years of being an Origin Customer! :-)

Data displayed in app is inconsistent

I’ve noticed for a while that the usage data in the app is inconsistent, sometimes it’s inconsistent between the different views e.g. Daily and History but also when opening the app on different days the previous usage data that was previously displayed is absent and the calculations that are performed are incorrect e.g. consumption data that was displayed when opening the app previously is now not represented and therefore the app calculates credits according to the solar feed-in that was recorded when the actual usage should be displayed as costs incurred. While I don’t think this indicates a bug in the app per se and rather indicates problems with the data it is representing, I wanted to mention it in hope the backend system(s) can get the attention they obviously need.

I also thought I’d include the following comment from my previous review:
* I’d like to suggest that in addition to showing the total usage across each month and year, it would be useful to also be able to display the average hourly usage across each month and year. Having visibility of this information would assist in identifying the times of day across months and years that there are devices in the home using high amounts of electricity. This information would also assist customers to determine if they’re on the best plan based on their average hourly usage (i.e. different ToU tariffs).
