Still have issues even after latest update
I had immense issues using desktop On Demand especially when casting to my tv, major dropouts, programs restarted after ad breaks, program not casting after ad breaks. Then I downloaded the app. While playback via casting is vastly better than desktop there are still issues, despite the recent update. Programs I’ve watched only via the app are not registering on the app that I’ve watched it and therefore not in my list of ‘continue watching’, nor is there any indication of what episodes I’ve watched. Series that I have watched via a desktop are listed in the in ‘continue watching’ but in some instances I’ve also watched episodes via the app yet neither is updated. There is no updating across platforms despite being signed in on the same account. The other issue is in ‘continue watching’ there is no option to get the episode list, so it just automatically plays ‘next episode’ but as it’s not updating it’s just playing an episode I’ve already seen. The only way to get to the episode list is to search for the program and go in through that way. But it still doesn’t register that I’ve watched new episodes.
I thought the app was going to be the end of the very problematic issues I was having on desktop but the app still needs some major overhauling.
As far as free to air content, SBS is fantastic. 10/10
Update: the app however needs a few bugs squashed. Watching Wayward pines and the app wont remember where i left off, so i manually have to fwd. needs a fix. Not sure about other content.
The range and quality of SBS entertainment, is way, way, above anything else when it comes to free to air and even paid streaming services. It literally has endless quality content and genres (from crime, drama to comedy) and yes it's free. Hence the reason they have ads to help cover costs. Unless you like watching ridiculous game shows or re-runs of Judge Judy & Cops (complete trash tv), then literally no other channel comes close to it's quality content. All other channels with bigger budgets should literally be embrassed at their content. It's a fantastic app. 10/10.
The fact nearly every review here (positive or negative) gets a legitimate reply from developers is a flashback to the days of proper customer service and care. Almost Unheard off in 'modern times'. To be commended.

UPDATE: Hey Walksy. A fix for the remembering where you're up to bug will be release with 3.2.4. Aiming for early next week
App Needs An Upgrade.
Out of the five networks that offer free to air content to view on apps, SBS is now the only one that doesn't allow live streams of each of their channels to view on ones mobile device. This is extremely frustrating and so yesteryear. For example if you're feeling a bit unwell and don't have a TV in your bedroom, you're unable to view a favourite show live on your mobile device in bed. Another example is a person traveling home late from work may want to watch their favourite show live. And your app doesn't provide that convenience for your audience. This has to change. SBS's App needs to play catchup when it comes to to delivering what their audience wants and needs.
Plus, it would be good if your app could show the whole repertoire. It's Space Week. So where are all the space documentaries and shows on your app? I've looked and they're not on the app to watch. This is frustrating and a big disappointment..... ☹️
