When we’re feeling off-colour, the annoyance of scheduling appointments only makes us feel worse. This app puts a lifeline to a doctor right in our pocket so we can get health advice without leaving our couch. It even monitors our concerns to help us stay in tip-top shape. Sure beats sitting in the waiting room.


Almost Perfect

It’s great to be able to just pick up the phone rather than making a physical appointment with your doctor. Very easy and convenient.

The one issue I have is that the calls are consistently late 10+ minutes. And then when you can’t answer as it’s not the time you confirmed, it’s cancelled and you need to rebook. This used to be easy but it seems there is less time available more recently. Today I had a physical appointment which I was a few minutes late for - it was very tricky to find something that was convenient - and while I was waiting in the office I received a notification saying they’d tried to call 10 minutes after my appointment (they didn’t!) and sorry they missed me but would need to reschedule. I went up to the reception team who said the doctor wasn’t able to see me as they have a 10 minute policy. Very annoying as I wasn’t 10 minutes late. If Babylon don’t see people who are a few minutes late and doctors are consistently calling late and missing appointments I dread to think how many aren’t being seen.

The Docs are great...but the rest?

It certainly isn’t worth £149 per year. You’ll get decent Doctors who give you a proper appointment that does the job. However, almost every single time I have used this service, I have had an issue with prescriptions. I’ve tried to collect prescriptions from 3-4 different pharmacies in and around London. Every single time, without fail, Babylon either didn’t send the prescription (and nobody tells you even after waiting for hours) or there were problems obtaining it because they use fax (and it’s not 1999 any more) and the pharmacies use email. So all in all, having Doctors at your fingertips is fantastic, but the prescription collection service is useless. When you’re sick, the added stress of waiting hours and hours and having to phone or chase people, in order to get your medication, means I can’t rate this higher than a 1 star. It’s ok, but it’s not good value for money.

UPDATE: In response to the reply received from the developer. When I say I’ve had a problem every time with the prescriptions, this is including when the App tells me my prescription is ready! I then attend the pharmacy to be told there is no prescription and often have to call Babylon. Last time, I just purchased the medication myself after I discovered a prescription wasn’t needed. So I should say that Babylon’s response to this review misses the point entirely and is also incorrect.

Dear DomB89, thank you for your review. When a clinician issues a private prescription, we will ask you to select home delivery or a pharmacy for the prescription to be sent to. Once you have done this, we will contact the pharmacy and send your prescription. We aim to do this within a few minutes, but sometimes this can take longer to get in touch with the pharmacy.
