My experience of Benenden

I am delighted to have taken out private healthcare with Benenden Health at such a reasonable price. With NHS waiting times often being extremely long, having health as a priority means a great deal to me, and this cover gives real peace of mind. It’s reassuring to know that I can access the treatment or diagnostics I need promptly, rather than facing lengthy delays.The sign-up process was straightforward, the cost is excellent for the level of cover provided, and the overall service has been very positive. Several members of my family have also joined, which speaks volumes about the value and trust we place in the company.I would highly recommend Benenden Health to anyone looking for affordable, reliable private medical cover. Keep up the excellent work!

Doesn’t help the problem

I phoned up once because I was worried that my child might be having a glycaemic episode and the response was that I needed to take him to the GP (which I had been trying to do for five days before contacting them with no luck). Eventually, I managed to get my son seen but it was not because of my Benenden Health..Then I had an issue where I was concerned about my blood health and had started to have random bleeds onto my skin. I contacted my GP and was unable to get an appointment or speak to anybody for weeks and so I contacted Benenden and they told me I needed to go into my GP to get a blood test. I phoned the GP surgery and told them I had spoken to a Benenden GP and I needed to get a blood test and the response was that I needed to speak to a practice GP and they didn’t have anyone available.. Long and short of it is that Benenden are very quick to provide advice but they cannot help or support you without referring you back into the NHS system - Which is broken. If they are unable to prescribe or treat what is the point?

Much better than vitality’s app

I’ve been a Benenden member for years and also have Vitality as a benefit through my work. Absolutely can’t see how on Earth Vitality’s awful unusable app has such high scores while Benenden’s (which has always worked for me) has such a low one. This app does exactly what it says on the tin. And none of the annoying re-directs and re-logins that experience on Vitality’s.

Can’t book GP for child members

My children and I are paid members but the app doesn’t have an option to book GP on their behalf. Tried booking as me but saying was for my child but when GP called they wouldn’t allow it and just cancelled. Spoke with membership services and they suggested creating a separate login for child and pretending to be them. App refused to book appointment (maybe thinks too young? It doesn’t say why). So only option is for me to go through usual “press 1 for blah blah” phone call and describe my child’s medical needs to someone over the phone like the internet didn’t exist. For the sake of a simple menu option in the app that knows I’ve my children as registered members. Booking GP for children not a crazy ask.
