Description

The COPA app is the new way to quickly get in touch with your Police and Crime Commissioner and Cleveland Police!

Download it now to feed in information about nuisance behaviour in your area and help us make Cleveland a safer place to be for those who live, work and visit here.

COPA’s main features are:

• ASK US: Do you have a query about policing, crime and community safety? Ask staff at the Police and Crime Commissioner’s office for their advice.

• TELL US: Share your concerns about nuisance behaviour in your community and help inform our solutions to make you feel safer.

• PROVIDE FEEDBACK: Have your say about the experience you received from Cleveland Police, whether good or bad. Make a complaint or pass your thanks to officers and staff.

• GET ADVICE: Access links to websites with helpful information about victim support services and crime prevention.

• REPORT ANONYMOUSLY: Do you want to report crime, but worried about repercussions? Visit the CrimeStoppers website and have confidence in their 25-year 100% anonymity rate.

• GET HELP: Quick links get you directly on the phone to Cleveland Police via 999 in an emergency. Click straight through to their online reporting form to report a non-urgent crime.

Download the app, enter a few personal details and tell us about antisocial behaviour, nuisance vehicles or drug-related matters. Your information will be assessed by staff in the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. If necessary, it will be passed to Cleveland Police for further action.

COPA has been developed by Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner Steve Turner as part of his commitment to give residents in Cleveland their voice in policing and community safety.

Verification code

Trying to get the app to work but it isn’t sending the verification code to my mobile number so can’t get any further. Bit rubbish so far.

Big brother app?

The app lets you contact the police about nuisance “crimes” but given the turn out rate that seems pointless. If you actually have an emergency you still need to call 999. I worry this will be used to report so called hate crimes by people outside the mainstream with axes to bear. Finally it worries me that to use the app you have to provide your name and post code and phone number. One wonders who the police will end up tracking? The crooks or the users. This could have been soo much better, but I cannot recommend it as it stands.
