Description

Good Drivers Can Save Money With DriveScore.

DriveScore is a new app that offers to help users prove and improve their driving skills, enabling them to save money on car insurance and other products. DriveScore uses your phone's sensors to track how you drive, identifying where you could improve.

DriveScore monitors how you drive your car, giving you feedback and insight while building a score that can help you save money, by proving to insurers that you’re a good driver.

By putting users in control of data collected as they drive, DriveScore makes driving a safer, cleaner and fairer experience for all. DriveScore studies how you drive, analysing your driving behaviour, giving you valuable insight on your driving style and will directly help you save money on your car insurance.

DriveScore helps you to build better driving habits by offering you personalised driving tips and highlighting areas that you can improve.

FEATURES:
DRIVE
DriveScore automatically measures how you drive, turning your phone into a silent driving coach. It's easy to set up and runs in the background, distraction-free (and won’t drain your battery).

SCORE
Get your own DriveScore, see how you compare and track how your driving changes. See what’s positive and what to work on. Prove how well you drive.

SAVE
Make your miles go further by using DriveScore to shop for better car insurance. Use your score to get enhanced offers from our insurance partners and see if you can save. A smarter, fairer way to buy based on how you drive, not how insurers think you drive.

SEE
View the full details of your trip, including overall drive rating, insights, trip stats and the precise location of each driving event recorded.

FREE
Your data is always in your control and DriveScore will be FREE, forever.

Install DriveScore on your phone, the app will then use the functionality of your smartphone such as the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and GPS readings to determine when you are undertaking a ‘Trip’ in a vehicle.

DriveScore will use these tools to take and record measurements relating to your driving behaviour, including calculating speed, acceleration, braking, cornering and distance travelled.

Demonstrating lower-risk driving behaviour such as smooth cornering and acceleration will lead to a higher DriveScore, while actions such as sudden braking or excessive speeding will lead to a lower DriveScore.

These are some of the factors that insurers may consider when providing a quote for car insurance premiums. DriveScore offers you the opportunity to understand how your driving behaviour may impact the cost of your car insurance premium.

Take DriveScore for a spin, download the app now and help make car insurance fairer for millions of people.

Become a better driver today.

Not worth the trouble

Well, I thought I would try this! It only records some of your journeys in the background! After you’ve completed you first 150 miles it starts to calculate, supposed to take 24 hrs mine was still calculating 48+ hours after completing my 150. Emailed and asked for help? My Emailed replied to sign out of app, did that then sign back in - couldn’t do that, wouldn’t accept my user name or password! Clear score informed again. Had another email from them asking me to let them know if it was working now, as developers had fixed it… still could not sign in, first instruction said delete and re install app, did that, still couldn’t sign in. I’ve given up! Update: I’ve got to admit everyone at clear score is trying to get me up and running. Hopefully it will be working 100% shortly!
All sorted now, thanks to everyone who worked on getting this to work
A good little tool!

Poor for narrow country roads

I thought I would give this a try but it doesn’t seem to be ready for use yet. If I am on Motorways and A roads my driving is scored well without any events. But I have a 4x4 SUV and I live in a rural area, so I usually drive on narrow Unclassified and B roads. I am a very steady driver often with elderly passengers; yet there are many times I have to briefly brake hard for hazards like an animal running out, or meeting oncoming vehicles where one of us has to reverse to pass each other.
As an experiment I did a 100 mile journey including Exmoor with a friend and then we looked at the events reported on the app. Harsh acceleration was even recorded for driving up Dunkery Beacon! My friend was astounded at the reported harsh braking in particular. I think the problem is the app doesn’t account for road type and assumes national speed limit roads are wide enough for vehicles to pass each other. My average speed on narrow roads is 20mph or below and I really don’t think I should be driving any slower than I already am, which is the only way I might avoid “hard braking”.
I have now kept this app on my phone over a month and the 2 week score over 50 drives amounts to about 400 miles giving me a score over 950. But when a single 4 mile drive can have 2 “harsh braking” events I can’t see how useful it is going to be. I shall be uninstalling it soon.

Not fit for purpose

Avoid this app and insurance policy. Firstly customer service is awful. But the main issue is the app/data recording is overly critical of driving, so much so you will struggle to drive without the app making you down unless you don’t go round a corner or use the brakes!
I’ve but professional data logging equipment on my sons car and the G readings under braking and cornering are less that what you would expect for normal driving but yet the app is still making him down. I’ve raised this as a complaint with youdive and they refused to talk to me and even tried closing the complaint without resolution. Seams that I have hit a nerve by proving to them that this system doesn’t work.
All the app is, is a tool to beat you with to make out your driving isn’t as good as it actually is so they don’t have to reduce premiums as much as they would do. It’s a licence to print money.
Before you buy ask them how it’s scored and what the score means? Ask them what the green bars mean on the app and how they affect your policy going forward! They can’t/won’t tell you.
This driving policy isn’t fit for purpose and has no context. Do everyone a favour and avoid this so they have to adjust it or scrap it although.
