Good Drivers Can Save Money With DriveScore.

DriveScore is a new app that offers to help users prove and improve their driving skills, enabling them to save money on car insurance and other products. DriveScore uses your phone's sensors to track how you drive, identifying where you could improve.

DriveScore monitors how you drive your car, giving you feedback and insight while building a score that can help you save money, by proving to insurers that you’re a good driver.

By putting users in control of data collected as they drive, DriveScore makes driving a safer, cleaner and fairer experience for all. DriveScore studies how you drive, analysing your driving behaviour, giving you valuable insight on your driving style and will directly help you save money on your car insurance.

DriveScore helps you to build better driving habits by offering you personalised driving tips and highlighting areas that you can improve.

DriveScore automatically measures how you drive, turning your phone into a silent driving coach. It's easy to set up and runs in the background, distraction-free (and won’t drain your battery).

Get your own DriveScore, see how you compare and track how your driving changes. See what’s positive and what to work on. Prove how well you drive.

Make your miles go further by using DriveScore to shop for better car insurance. Use your score to get enhanced offers from our insurance partners and see if you can save. A smarter, fairer way to buy based on how you drive, not how insurers think you drive.

View the full details of your trip, including overall drive rating, insights, trip stats and the precise location of each driving event recorded.

Your data is always in your control and DriveScore will be FREE, forever.

Install DriveScore on your phone, the app will then use the functionality of your smartphone such as the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and GPS readings to determine when you are undertaking a ‘Trip’ in a vehicle.

DriveScore will use these tools to take and record measurements relating to your driving behaviour, including calculating speed, acceleration, braking, cornering and distance travelled.

Demonstrating lower-risk driving behaviour such as smooth cornering and acceleration will lead to a higher DriveScore, while actions such as sudden braking or excessive speeding will lead to a lower DriveScore.

These are some of the factors that insurers may consider when providing a quote for car insurance premiums. DriveScore offers you the opportunity to understand how your driving behaviour may impact the cost of your car insurance premium.

Take DriveScore for a spin, download the app now and help make car insurance fairer for millions of people.

Become a better driver today.

Better driving

I have driven since I joined the army, I gained my HGV 1 at the age of 19 years old, just before my 20th birthday, I was so proud, I have driven many types of vehicles over the years, and many different courses on improving my abilities, I am now retired after 50 years on the road, when I noticed this app and thought I’ll give it a go, and I have seen in myself a better driver, it’s a good way to realise how much bad habits that you pick up over the years, if everyone on the road had this app to go by then it would be a better world on the roadways.

Not perfect, but still good!

The app is not perfect, it doesn’t allow for the deer that ran across the road in front of me, I was marked down a score for my hard braking when in fact, my quick response of covering the brake, would have been a great emergency stop if I was on my driving test. I was also marked down on a couple of occasions for hard acceleration. Okay, a little sensitive I think for those. I’m now aware I could be marked down, I pull away from lights and junctions a lot slower than I used to do. I’ve probably become the driver you moan about being stuck behind even though I’m sticking to the speed limit etc. It’s a rough estimate of your driving and not totally accurate, a few little mark downs here and there won’t affect your score massively. Despite it not being perfect, I guess my score of being above 900 regularly has more than likely made me less likely to be involved in an accident where I would be to blame. Less likely to get caught for speeding. So I guess there is some gain from it.

Good App, but it has its flaws.

I’ve tried the app for about a month and manage to keep a score well in excess of 900.

But the app isn’t without its flaws. Through no fault not it’s own the app directly discriminates driving as it cannot ascertain who is the driver and who is the passenger. So if you are a passenger and someone drives like an idiot, or if you are a passenger and legitimately using your phone as a passenger your driver score will be adversely affected, and while you can change who was the driver or passenger, you have to be careful as to much editing of driver / passenger data will restrict you.

As I said I’ve been using the app for a month, and for 10 days I’ve been unable to drive due to surgery, but have been a passenger. And lets just say my son being 25 years younger isn’t the best driver, speeding, harsh acceleration, tailgating, and because I was using my phone, this was also negatively impacted. And while I removed these trips, my account got restricted due to removing these trips, there is no way once restricted you can get in touch with ClearScore to prove your case. In the end I deleted my account.

So I gave the app 4*, I would have given 5* if ClearScore had been contactable and took evidence from me to state I could not drive for 10 days and allow me to remove all adverse data.
