Great idea. Poor implementation
Car clubs are so sensible for city drivers. I joined City Car Club when my camper was in for major repairs and then, when the camper died, I didn’t bother with a replacement vehicle, because a car club vehicle round the corner in its own parking space is so much more convenient. And cheaper. But the admin, and implementation of the app is infuriating. Enterprise took MONTHS and many requests to replace a card. The app continually needs to be logged into, despite me ticking ‘stay logged in’ and using fingerprint ID. Enterprise changed my PIN without telling me, and then swore they couldn’t have done it. Feels like Enterprise are economising on staff and resources, when they ought to be investing.
Car Club vs Daily rental with Enterprise
I have hired cars 5 times this year. Then I joined Car Club. I have used Car Club once. Seems a very good deal . I was a bit confused with the way the car started as it was a keyless automatic hybrid, so a basic, “fools guide“ to starting the car would have been good. With rental cars you can ask questions before you drive away. Also I am a bit concerned about turning up to collect my Car Club car out of Office hours and it being damaged so it is unsafe to drive and also if the cars interior is dirty. Booked a vehicle with Car Club again today .
Bad customer service
Really poor customer service, and lack of transparency over cost. They will charge £30 admin fee on top of any offenses. Their plan and pricing is really complex and most time is designed to maximise their fees. They take forever to process claims, lock your account while processing but still charge you monthly fees. Their customer service and damage recovery team don’t talk to each other and it’s impossible to get status on claim. Someone broke the outside mirror while the car was parked; and it has taken now 3 weeks without any update from customer service or indication of cost and timeline. You are also liable for loss of business while the car is unavailable. In a nutshell, this company lack customer focus, looking at making margins through fees, complex pricing and dubious practices. They won’t be in the market for too long.
