Ratings and Reviews
Solid and aesthetic remaster
What can I say, absolutely beautiful and manages to tick all the boxes in terms of soundtrack and gameplay. The mobile controls weren’t too much a hassle to get used to either
However, it lacks the difficulty that originally featured in earlier versions of the game, which holds it back from getting that coveted fifth star
Brilliant remake
Square did an amazing job with this, taking a classic game and giving it new life with a stunning rearranged score, hugely improved graphics, and numerous quality of life improvements. The game is a sheer pleasure, and so good that I went directly to buy the other titles in this series just to savor the new music and graphics.
If you’ve played the original and are a fan of Uematsu’s soundtracks, the remake is worth it for the new music alone! For everyone else, it’s the perfect introduction to a really fun classic game.
A well-done return to the game that started it all
As someone who never played FF1, and was somewhat off put by the original mobile ports, this pixel remaster has proven to be an absolute gem. I can’t speak to some of the other reviews that talk about missing content, but for me, this plays better than I expected from Final Fantasy 1. Everything feels so modern, yet classic all the same. Looking forward to FF4 through 6 when they come out!
