Dexcom will win at this rate

Unless Abbott spend the time & energy on improving this app, Dexcom will win. Which is a shame because as a physical device, the Libre 3 is excellent, so small and compact, easy to apply etc. But the app is really severely lacking. When I used the 2, Abbott made the api available such that 3rd party apps could be developed. Use a 2 with the app Shuggah for example, it’s incredible. Indeed I am very likely to revert to the 2 instead of the 3 for this very reason (Shuggah can’t support the 3 because there is no api). Shuggah (amongst a million things it does so well) allows a custom alarm high vs low, so you can tell without looking at your phone what the alarm is for. Shuggah uses icon notification (like your email or whatsapp) so you can see your blood glucose reading without opening the app at all. Shuggah writes to your calendar, so your watch can receive your glucose level in real-time. Everything amazing that the open source community working for free has achieved with Shuggah and other 3rd party apps, the official 2 and 3 apps do not do or even attempt to do.

Life changing….but…

I self funded Libre 1 when it first came out and it was life-changing. The biggest step forward since my diagnosis in 1978. I enjoyed uding Libre 1 and 2 and was greatly looking forward to Libre 3. I could count on one hand how many sensors failed by a lost connection with 1 & 2 but it happens regularly with Libre 3 for some reason. Sometimes it burst back to life but sometimes it just dies and you need to fit a new one. Great when it works but incredibly frustrating when it loses signal.

Reliable and informative. Good app

There are a lot of negative reviews which I find surprising. I’ve been using the Libre3 app for 6 weeks now (since being diagnosed with T1DM) and it’s been impressively reliable, offers the core functionality that I need, and provides a lot of data analysis think over apps like Shuggah/xDrip4iOS don’t provide as far as I can tell (not used it though). Yes the UX is a little awkward in places (e.g you can’t open notes in the Daily Graph view, and you can’t zoom/pan/highlight charts) but I think these are nice to haves. It’s a shame you can’t export your data, but then this isn’t required as much because of the good data visuals including the LibreView integration. In conclusion, not perfect but certainly much better than the other reviews indicate
