Editors’ Choice

You might get stuck the first time you play Gorogoa. But once the gears of your brain settle into the right configurations, you’ll see how smart this mix of art and perspective really is. Layers pile upon layers, doors transport you between realities, strange creatures and wild environments blend together into a fascinating interactive collage you’ll want to peel apart to discover what lies underneath.

Gorogoa - absolutely wonderful

There are probably not enough adjectives in the world to describe this game, but here are a few; gorgeous, unusual, imaginative, original and stunning.

I don’t care about the price- the game itself is so far removed from the hideous Candy Crush and it’s knock-offs that it’s a complete breath of fresh air. The route though every exquisitely drawn picture may not have been 20 hours game play - but each screen is so wonderfully drawn that surely it would take decades to produce 20 hours of a game like this?

The puzzles are great, that art is greater. I’m already beginning to have hopes and fears for this guy’s subsequent games. If you are an artist, or art lover, who also enjoys puzzles, then this game is for you - play it whatever the App Store charges because it’s definitely worth it!

Wonderful concept, looks amazing, but too short and too easy

I absolutely love this concept, and the various mechanics; visuals are really good and unique. If you are a fan of The Room (game) series, you’ll like this. However, apart from one or two clever segments, this isn’t much of a challenge... and can be completed in a couple of binge sessions, so if you are going to play this, pace yourself and only do a few puzzle segments at a time to get your money’s worth. The final “puzzle” was particularly disappointing as it was the same solution repeated five times and felt more like an interactive cut scene. I suppose that is how it felt in the majority of places, the game restricts where you can go a bit too much, and feels very hand-holdy... solutions can be figured out just by mashing and tapping the screen and sometimes the right path reveals itself. I hope that if they make a second one, that it is less restrictive, and can let us explore the universe a bit more and allow us to try and suss out the problems ourselves.
