## WHY YOU’LL LOVE DRAFTS ##
CAPTURE EVERYWHERE:
Drafts opens to a new page with the keyboard ready — just waiting for your words. Alternatively, go hands-free with dictation.
Drafts helps you write ideas down before you can forget them so and they’ll always be there, ready and waiting. Capture on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, and Drafts’ fast sync will make your text available everywhere.
USE YOUR WORDS:
Drafts is a jumping-off point for text — use actions to copy it, share it, or deep-link into other apps and services. Compose a tweet, draft a message, create a file in Dropbox, send a task off to Reminders – Drafts works with tons of your favorite apps and services. Hone your text through integrations with popular AI LLMs.
REMEMBER IT NOW – OR LATER:
New entries go into the Inbox. Once there, you can Tag them for organization, Flag them for importance, or Archive them for long-term storage.
TAKE TEXT TO A NEW LEVEL:
Customize Drafts to look and work the way you want with tons of interface adjustments — custom fonts and control over spacing, line height, and margins.
Use the customizable buttons above the keyboard to convert, manipulate, and transform your writing quickly.
Using Drafts as a global inbox for all of your text? Process everything quickly using unique features like Link Mode, Arrange Mode, and text manipulation actions.
LEVERAGE THE POWER OF YOUR WRIST COMPUTER:
Use your Apple Watch to quickly capture text using nothing more than your voice — and your ideas will be waiting on your iPhone, iPad, and Mac ready to be fleshed out.
GETTING WORDS DOWN HAS NEVER BEEN EASIER:
Drafts opens lightning fast and with support for capture via Siri, the widget, share extension, file import, and dictation - Drafts is like post-its updated for the smartphone era.

I suppose it might be legal in parts of the world to marry an app. I’m going to check into the legislation where I live. I can’t make it through the day without Drafts, and to be honest, I don’t need anything or anyone else. I can write poems with Drafts, I can write emails with Drafts, I can write the Great American Novel with Drafts. I can make little workspaces to keep notes on different projects. I can keep a shopping list. I can store everything that can be expressed in words, whether it be administrative, artistic, literary, legal, social, or the secret instructions to find a buried treasure. It does things that no other app does, from the simple yet profound structural capabilities it offers to adapt to your way of thinking, down to the button that lets you nudge your cursor one character ahead or back (why isn’t this a native part of iOS? But it’s not — and I haven’t found this anywhere but in Drafts). It even overcomes some of iOS’s natural limitations, like the time limit on dictation. It makes you feel like a genius coder and markup man, but it’s easier to use than Microsoft Word or Pages (far easier). Drafts and a bottle of wine, an internet connection, and a three-day weekend... my idea of bliss. (This review was written in Drafts.)
An apology, changed my mind
free cloud
I originally wrote quite a damming review as i was outraged at the change to a subscription model from drafts 4, a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. I have now removed that review. This developer is actually very fair. He gives you a weeks free trial of the full option set, which I used, and it then reverts to the free version. The free version is very usable and contains all the features I need. He does not hold back one important feature to make you pay for features you don’t need. The app is now very polished and I use it everyday. I can see the need for the subscription version for power users and hope he gets quite a few to pay for continuing development and support for this app. I would hate to see it go and have made a modest voluntary contribution in drafts4 ,so be fair and give the man .99 or 1.99 or whatever.apologies to the developer for my previous hasty review
Lost all my Drafts 4 notes
Kamran Layegh
UPDATE: It is reasonable to expect that when you install a new version of a note-making app on a new device, you should be able to have access to your notes that you have created on an older version of the app without further ado. I have spent literally hundreds of hour making notes about different topics, all on Drafts 4. When I open Drafts Version 7 on my new device I get a completely BLANK app—there is exactly NOTHING there. I can see my notes only on my old device. Your workaround described in your response requires that I install version 4 and run it concurrently with version 7. Running two versions of an app is inconvenient and unsatisfactory. I am writing this in a review so people who are thinking of getting this app will be able to make an informed decision knowing what could happen to their notes in a future update of your app.I’ve been using Drafts 4.7.7.2 since 2016. Have tons of notes stored on it. Just download this version 7 on a new device and have no way to access my old notes. My Drafts 4 is on an old device which doesn't allow Drafts 7 to be installed on it. My Drafts 7 is on a new device. I have no way of transferring my data to my new device. The Migrate function only works if both versions 4 and 7 are on the SAME device. Very poor show. My data is obviously on Drafts servers as I can access it using my old device (which I’ll be giving away) but I cannot access my data with my new device because my new device doesn’t have Version 4 on it and I have no way of installing Version 4 on it. So it’s goodbye to all my notes. Not good.

UPDATE: Please contact support, we'd be happy to help you with this transition (support@agiletortoise.com) and it would be much more efficient then reviews. You can install Drafts 4 on your new device. It is no longer available for sale, but you can download the last version from your purchase history in the App Store app. All you data is in iCloud and will be restored if you re-install it.The new version was released as a separate app to ease transition for people. The new version can easily import all your Drafts 4 data. If Drafts 4 is installed, it offers to do this import on first launch, but if you miss that in the onboarding, simple visit Settings > Migrate from Drafts 4 in the new app. It only takes seconds. More details on the Migration process are on our website: https://docs.getdrafts.com/docs/gettingstarted/migration.html
A bit too ‘amazing’ for simple needs??

There’s no disguising that a lot of work has gone into Drafts, so why, you might ask, am I dissatisfied? I’ve tried to get my head round the jargon and numerous control panels but unless I’m missing something I still find myself frustrated and turning to a simpler text editor. It syncs well, and is nicer to use for text documents that Apple’s Notes, which also syncs quite well. So I go into my iMac and start drafting something which I will then use either in email or Word for Mac. This where it struggles. Why not just draft in Word? That indeed is an option, even if Word doesn’t have quite the same sync features, but drafting in one program and checking a final version in another is better at throwing up errors, as any experienced author knows. Now if just type plain text, fine. But the minute I try to add an italic or other emphasis in Drafts I get a word surrounded by underlines, with or without an italics display. Either way, it doesn’t transfer to Word with actual italicised words. This is such a basic thing. I’ve searched the web and some pages seem to say that it is a technical impossibility due to something or other. Either way it seems a drastic shortcoming in a program that is so sophisticated in many other ways. Or am I missing something? If anyone can explain how to italicise a word using Drafts on an iMac (or MacBook) so that when pasted into Word for Mac the italicised words appear in italics, then I’ll be a ‘fan’. Best wishes.
