HOW TO PLAY? DECISION GAMES, TEXT ADVENTURES, CYOA? WHAT IS THIS?
You are connected to your friends in Duskwood via chat messenger. This allows you to receive pictures, videos, voice messages and even phone calls. Your answers, choices and decisions influence what others reveal of themselves, whether they like you, and even change the course of the story. This type of role play game (rpg) is also called text adventure, cyoa, decision- or choice games. It belongs to the genre of interactive fiction.
This is an epic game. The developers have done a great job. However I am on episode 7 and so far it would seem to be 10 minutes of the main game and 30 minutes of the mini games which is basically candy crush like games. Some of which are stupidly hard at times. It’s like I’m spending more time not playing the game than actually doing it. I think if you offered the first episode for free then charged even £2 or so per episode then that would be a money generator, making the side games hard and wanting people to buy coins for extra moves or buying extra life’s along with the media pack etc is terrible. You are limiting the people who play through the game as most will get bored of the mini games. I’d have given you £10 to unlock the game after the first episode but this revenue path looks to have limited game playing numbers. Good luck with it.

This game is just great. And new as well - it’s concept is unlike anything I’ve ever played. All the characters are so realistic (they even have their own social media accounts and emails) and as time passes you really get to know them and understand their motives. Not to mention the suspense and intriguing storyline. Sure the mini games are sometimes frustrating but you get enough progress every time you clear a level so I can live with that. The only 2 things I can think of for a even more perfect game is, one, be able to read previous conversations. Depending on how long you spend on the mini games sometimes it can take hours until you can progress, plus your real life work and rest, it is so easy to lose track of the choices you’ve made, or important details/clues. So I really wish for a feature to enable players to backtrack their progress, or at least a log of what they’ve covered so far eg. I have/haven’t told this character this piece of information and they reacted normally/weirdly. Second thing is I want to replay this game. With the amount of choices and decisions in this game, I really want to try going down another route and see how my choices affect the story telling and character dynamics. So it’d be great if there is an option to start a new game (of course keeping the old ones intact) especially now that we are all waiting for the new episode to come out.

Not come across anything else quite like this game, for me it reminded me of choose your story books i used to love, although I did find this a lot more immersive with all the characters phone calls video chats and text messages. I really couldn’t help getting slightly attached to my new AI buddies. The Mini games could be annoying at times, however I did like the way each episode ended on a cliff hanger, this gave me so much incentive to try get through the mini games quicker to find out what happens next. The story line was good with so many new clues coming into play with each passing episode and then came the ending, a big disappointment, never did get to find out why my number was in the kidnapped woman’s phone and the culprit behind it all was both a shock and a disappointment. I also wish you could restart the game, I’m really missing my group chats with this crazy bunch lol and it would be really good to see how different choices would change the narrative. All in all this is the best game I have played and would highly recommend it to anyone that loves a good mystery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Could be decent if it wasn’t ruined by the mini games.

It’s intriguing, the storyline hooks you and it could be a decent game. But I do have a few issues. 1) If you want to view basic evidence like photo’s, or listen to audio/watch video’s that are sent to you to advance the story, you need to pay. Then, what starts off as a rich storytelling experience - when you first start playing it you have constant interactions with characters/suspects etc, then you have to complete the odd “candy crush” style mini game every 20 minutes or so to “hack” the victim’s cloud and gather evidence. But the deeper you get into the story, the more the storytelling stops and you’ll find yourself trying to complete near impossible levels of bloody candy crush just to be rewarded with a meaningless bit of dialogue that doesn’t actually do much to advance the story at all. So you’re then stuck between either paying to try and complete these mini games just so you can finish the story, or you have to hope that you’ll get a smidge of luck and actually be able to complete them with the 1 attempt you’re given every 20-30 minutes or so, which is so ridiculously difficult that you’ll either have to give up on the story and game completely because it’s just a pain - or you have to spend money. Honestly when there are INCREDIBLE games that are better in graphics, content, replayability and depth (for example, Scriptic) - this just falls short massively and it is not worth your time. The dialogue is also lacking, the conversations don’t sound natural and there’s clearly a bit of a language barrier as certain dialogue just doesn’t make sense when translated to English. Scriptic on the other hand? Top tier - go and check out their games, especially Redman and Unmasked. And they’re completely free to play!
