What’s New
Version 2.60.0
This wasn't the flashiest app update, but it was an important one to keep things running smoothly for you. Sometimes we're very loud about what we do to make our users' experience better than ever, but other times the updates are just quiet yet necessary. Like this one.
Ratings and Reviews
brilliant but could do with some tweaks!
I was using Revolut before as my main bank for over a year, when chase came out I was referred so I fortunately got given £40 from signing up and signing someone else up. (We both still use the bank now as it’s great. They gave a year worth of free 1p per £1 spend cash back so that was such a perk. The app and card itself is stylish and simplistic. Didn’t have to pay for the card but did take a while to deliver, was the opposite for Revolut as had to pay £4.99 for the card itself and delivery. The transfers are fast, no advertisement or restrictions compared to Revolut !! Constant emails and gimmicks to sign up to pay for a better card etc. The customer service is great, I had problems signing in but called the number at 1:30 am in time and they answered from America for no extra charge, was just included in my unlimited call sim. They answered fast with no real waiting time, and helped quickly.
Only two downsides I’ve faced is that my work payroll doesn’t accept the card to be a pay into bank but my Revolut does. So each month I find myself transferring my money from Revolut to chase. The savings account in chase is also so much better. The other issue is the same for Revolut too and it’s that our uk post offices don’t accept the card to transfer cash into! So annoying when you don’t want to carry cash.

Mrs
I am pleased with the service I have received so far. Signing up was easy and straightforward for me. The account was activated once I was approved and I could use the digital debit card immediately, adding it to my wallet on my iPhone while I waited for the physical card. I started to see that I was earning cash back amounts as I used my card to pay for purchases and I was able to open a savings account on the app to redeem my cash-back. I also signed up for the save and spend account and I’m glad to see my savings from rounding up my spending increasing. I am pleased I can see and manage my account on my phone via the app. Once my physical debit card arrived, I activated it on the app. I enjoy using the copy feature to enter my card details when I’m making a payment from my phone, this ensures that I enter the correct information. I travelled to Europe with my Chase card and I had no problems with it. The app showed me the equivalent of my euros spend in my home currency and I didn’t see any unexpected fees on my statement. Because of how well the service is, I am considering using their investment service, Nutmeg. The app has provided me with a lot of useful information and I’m working my through it.

All going backwards
The Chase app is nice, rather than good or bad. I like the interface, it does everything I want it to do, and I can see my Nutmeg pots (possibly a bad thing, depending on your point of view), and it’s relatively fast to load. But I don’t think it’s any better than the good high street bank apps or the fintech apps.
My main issues with the app are that my phone (13mini) gets scorching hot within seconds when it’s open, there appears to be no way to see the account details of a payee for a particular transaction, and support is pretty bad. I once sent a payment to another account of mine and then couldn’t find it later, and when I came back to the Chase app to check the details, it would only say that the payment was sent to ‘my name’. The account details were nowhere to be found and support just referred me to my list of payees, which features several of my accounts with other banks, all with my name on them, and then they ended the chat. Payee nicknaming would be nice, as would showing their account into in the transaction detail.
Due to the recent changes to the various Chase offerings making them uncompetitive, I’ve switched away. I’m going to keep my Chase account open just in case (as I do miss the app already), but I’m primarily driven to the most financially competitive offering and Chase is no longer it.
