Two Decades of Yahoo Mail
Having used Yahoo mail almost from the time I got me first broadband connection I have remained loyal due to its ease of use and flexibility.
After upgrading from my wind up computer to the new Coal Board sponsored steam model I have been pleased to note that Yahoo has remained constant.
With the introduction of the new angled electricity, it will never replace candles, computers will continue to advance. I have heard that there is talk of a "floppy disk" but I will stick to my tried and tested cassette, there is something reassuring hearing the crackle and static over the speakers as you have your third coffee, waiting for your favourite program to reload.
Keep up the good work Yahoo and may your oil lamp never sputter as you burn that midnight oil looking after all us "techies ".
Forcing yahoo mail users to view ads
Yahoo have for some time now been sabotaging performance of their mail service on Apple devices, either deliberately or through failure to corrects bugs. Recently purchased an iPhone X which works very well in every way except that yahoo mail will not update to show new emails in the native Apple mail app. Despite logging out and in, switching mail servers, switching phone on and off, refreshing all inboxes (including junk and trash) and posting on a yahoo forum about my problem my emails still WILL NOT SHOW UP. All works fine on desktop or through safari, yahoo’s official advice is to “download our yahoo mail app” which happens to contain adverts. My problem is not a unique one and has been around intermittently for a long time, specifically with yahoo accounts. The next time I get a free day I will go through the laborious task of switching all relevant accounts and contact details to my gmail account which has always worked perfectly in its own app, via desktop, via safari and most importantly via native Mail app! Disgusting service.
Why so complicated?
There is an issue with the process that checks your account recovery contact details. The app has prompted me many times recently with a pop up showing the phone numbers and email addresses I could use should I need to recover my yahoo account. I had been been ignoring the pop up, because the contact details, despite their age, were all still valid. Eventually I got sufficiently annoyed with the pop up that I tried to ease its concerns, but there was no obvious way to just confirm that the existing contact details were still correct. When I tried to confirm that the phone numbers were correct, the only option seemed to be to use the “edit” icon, then press “confirm”. This had the effect of deleting the phone numbers! I had to add them again from scratch. Why do you make this apparently simple process so complicated?
