Persevering with using app especially as developers have taken note of my comments
KeenGermanist
All of the comments below still stand for the time being, however at least the developers have bothered to reply to me and these things are being worked on. - I love Feast in its paper form; it has to be the best food supplement across all the UK newspapers- so cannot help but use this app daily despite my negative comments. The Guardian offers such a great service overall as an independent newspaper that I am willing Feast to be a success!Since my review of 19 April when I first got the app I’ve been using the Feast app and trying to give it a chance to prove me wrong. Sadly there are 2 major issues: the search is asynchronous which means it’s incredibly laggy and dependent on the speed of my connection. Secondly the My Feast area is a good idea but there’s no ability to catalogue my saved recipes - I’ve already saved quite a few and if I continue to do this it will really help to save them under types of recipe.

Hi there, we're sorry that you're experiencing performance issues. They've been fixed in the latest update, Version 1.4. Please also ensure you're on the latest version of iOS. Also, thank you for your feedback about cataloguing saved recipes. We appreciate you taking the time to raise this and we will pass this on to our product team to investigate further.
It’s ok, but could be better

I really want to like this app more than I do. It’s not bad, and it’s great having the Guardian recipes all in one place but there’s a few things that could be better. 1 I have the NYT cooking app as well and this comes as part of the NYT subscription. It niggles me a bit that I already have a premium subscription to the Guardian and then have to pay again on top of that for Feast. 2 it needs a facility to save recipes into folders like the NYT cooking app does. When you’ve saved a few dozen recipes there’s no way of sorting them and you have to scroll through them all to find something. 3 when scrolling through your saved recipes, it is far too easy to accidentally unsave a recipe by touching the save/unsave icon. I’ve done this a few times and haven’t got a clue which recipe I’ve just made instantly disappear. 4 the NYT app provides a calorie and nutrition breakdown for their recipes. As I’m paying for this app on top of my Guardian subscription, I would love to have something extra like this as I do like to know when a recipe is low calorie and suitable for 5:2 meals.
My cooking has been turbo charged by this app

I cannot remember when in my entire life that I have cooked so many new and exciting recipes. I “restrict” the list to vegetarian but honestly it is not much of a restriction becuase for any ingredient I put into the search engine there is always plenty of choice. The app caters for any type of diet and allows searches for easy and quick choices of recipe too. I like the fact I can search by chef as I am a real Meera Sodha fan and I know her recipes will be tasty and straightforward to follow. I also like being able to store my recipes in curated recipe lists, so they are easy to find when I want to do them again.
Good idea, could be improved

Useful app, particularly like the cook mode function and being able to search using ingredients. However, there’s a few things that could be improved to make the experience better:1. The search function should apply to multiple filters at once. When searching for both ‘dinner’ and ‘quick’ I still get dinner results which take 2-3 hours to cook.2. I’ve got tonnes of recipes Bookmarked and marked as ‘cooked’ meaning it’s difficult to go through them all to find one again. These recipes should be grouped within the bookmarks tab, and that grouping should be the user’s choice, e.g. grouping by cuisine, chef, time taken etc.3. You can copy a link of the recipe from the app, which is very useful - however, when clicking on that link from somewhere else, it takes me back to the guardian page on my browser, rather than the app.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback, which has been shared with the apps team. It's now possible to create collections for your saved recipes. You'll need to be using the latest version of the app.
- We've made improvements to recipe sharing and deep linking.
- You can now create your own shopping list. Browse the app for recipes and add the ingredients as you go.
- Recipes are now printable. Open a recipe and tap the three dot menu
