Dark Sky was fantastic then Apple bought it and well did what big companies do. Acme Weather easy and so far accurate. Community reports will be amazing once more user find and use Acme, it’s like Waze reports but for weather. But, visually it looks dated and the strange beige accent colour reminds of a 1950’s American home and Claude AI, it’s not a nice choice. Then it’s the subscription price. £25 a year when your competitor Carrot is £29.49 a year and providers significantly more. Maybe once Acme has established itself and has more features they can justify the price, but I can’t yet. Most importantly it’s made by the same people that made the original Dark Sky app, so we know we’re in good hands. What I’d like to see:- Better value for subscription price or a subscription price that matches the apps features- Little bit of customisation would be nice. I dislike the accent colour used in dark mode- More modern feel to UI- Decide what is shown on the Home Screen map. It’s fixed to temperature which I find useless. Cloud and rain radar would be more useful. - Better lock screen widgets- Lighting for Europe. If Carrot can do it, Acme must be able to- and of course the return of the vertical weather view that made Dark Sky so visually amazing to use.
