I gave my 11 year old son this app and my trust, I told him how much he gets every week with the chance to earn extra by working hard and completing tasks, he has complete control over his money when it’s gone it’s gone, 3 weeks he’s had the card and he has started his own savings on the app £2 every week and now has £8 in his savings account and £34 balance on the main account, he has surpassed my expectations by a mile I was expecting him to have no money left at the end of week 1, instead he’s got a positive balance and savings and come to me today to discuss his 1st major purchase, we talked about it and I told him to take an hour let it brew which he did and then decided to wait and look around I CANT RECOMMEND THIS APP HIGHLY ENOUGH my 11 year old son has gone from shouting dad across the room, can I have this pack on fortnight, can we have a takeaway, he now doesn’t ask me for anything online and calls me when he gets good test scores GET THIS FOR UR KIDS they react so much better when u trust them rather than control them, trust and communication NOW BAD POINTS minimal This app is not compatible with Apple Pay so every time he uses Apple Pay and forgets to use his card because they are so used to everything on their phone it comes out of my bank and u can’t transfer from ur gohenry parent account to ur main account, this needs to be addressed, I keep getting the £1.50 Apple Pay charges with sorry dad I forgot lol they got to see these transactions disappear and not get moved to the gohenry app for next week Anyways get this app for ur kids best £2.99 a month I’ve ever spent

I downloaded this app almost three years back because my mother wanted to teach me about finances and responsibilities after inflation and the pandemic due to the critical role money will play in my future and need to build financial good habits from a impressionable age. Although quite pricey at £3 a week (I think) I believe for a lot of families it will be well worth it. It rests heavily on your family dynamic and child’s age. If your child is year 4-5 and up, I would highly recommend it as usually for younger kids there isn’t a lot of opportunities to spend, so their money can grow quickly while they learn. Entering secondary school, there will be a lot more options, but you can block certain categories, including ATMs ( helpful in case of running away) and set spending limits a week, seeing where and what categories they spend their money on. I must confess, my habits aren’t the best, however I spend less than my allowance+saving money each week, and have a steady saving place. I know it is for a good cause, but keep your eye out for the donations, because the app doesn’t tell you as a parent if or how much your child is giving and always automatically transfers to the charity if you ticked that ages ago ( you should have to have permission from a parent)Thanks

My son is 9, we’ve had goHenry for a year now and we’ve really embraced the app and pocket money management as a tool for learning about smart spending, budgeting and buyers remorse! He’s on a flat rate of £3 per week now (up 50p since his bday!) but can up it by completing household tasks beyond the normal expectations - random act of kindness is on there, that’s his most frequently used, then there’s hanging / folding a load of washing, washing & drying up, hoovering upstairs etc... if he can be bothered he’ll up his weekly total by a pound or two but at the moment he’s saving towards a Lego Technics set so he’s ticking off the tasks and hit a high of £7 this week, it ebbs and flows, but that’s what’s nice about it.At the moment his money comes in weekly but that will change to every other week when he hits double digits and monthly when he hits his teens. It’s his money, I let him accumulate, waste and regret it if need be - I’d rather he learnt now when it doesn’t really matter than later on in life when it does. Having a card also emulates what he sees us have and is way better when we’re out and about somewhere as we managed to mislay his old style wallet and coins which was mildly disastrous at the time! I don’t really know how my pay rate shapes up to others or what the going rate even is these days, I just picked what I felt comfortable with and what I felt would help teach him the need to save whilst also giving him enough to spend in a gift shop on something small if we went on a family day out somewhere. Anyway, I could ramble on, but the general message here is that it’s a great app and works well for us!

This really is such an excellent app to go with an excellent product! I really can't fault it at all. It's so easy to navigate and has helped me ensure I meet the agreed weekly pocket money with no problem whatsoever. The tasks are an excellent idea as my daughter gets an agreed amount of pocket money but is able to earn more by completing simple tasks each week that we agreed together. I like that you can choose to be the o e who ticks off completed tasks or allow your child to also tick off tasks as she does them. It shows your child you trust them to be honest but if it doesn't quite go as expected it us dimple to change to just the parent ticking off tasks/chores. Not only that but my child cimpmetes her chores with no complaints or moaning. She likes watching her money grow and it has taught her the joy of saving her money. An agreed amount each week goes into her savings account but it's easy to transfer to spending account shld it be needed for special circumstances e.g. HolidaysI cld go on but I h e probably said more than enough already.All in all despite the monthly fee, thus card and app has helped my child and I build a stronger bond of trust as I was forever forgetting pocket money or not having enough cash to give her.It's well worth giving a go. You won't be disappointed.
