“[A] surprising iPhone and Apple Watch bestseller is pushing the boundaries of fiction” - boingboing.net
“This is the best game on the Apple Watch” - Time.com

Lifeline is a playable, branching story of survival against all odds. Using your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch, you will help Taylor make life or death decisions, and face the consequences together.

Acclaimed writer Dave Justus (Fables: The Wolf Among Us) weaves a gripping interactive story through the aftermath of a crash landing on an alien moon. Taylor is stranded, the rest of the crew are dead or missing, and Taylor’s communicator can only reach you.

Lifeline pioneered a new narrative experience enabled by modern devices. This story plays out in real time as Taylor works to stay alive, notifications deliver new messages throughout your day. Keep up as they come in, or catch up later when you’re free. You can even respond to Taylor directly from your Apple Watch or your iPhone lock screen, without launching into the app.

Or, dive in and jump back to earlier points in the story, and see what happens when you make a different choice. Simple actions can have a profound effect. Complete any single path to restart the story and unlock this mode.

Lifeline is a deep, immersive story of survival and perseverance, with many possible outcomes. Taylor is relying on YOU.

Praise for Lifeline:

“I’ve played many games that I find engrossing, but Lifeline may be one of the first that changed the way I thought about my daily routine, which leapt off the screen and became a part of my lived experience.” - Eli Cymet, Gamezebo

“I felt an immediate attachment to a fictional character pinging me from a strange galaxy to my wearable.” - Luke Hopewell, Gizmodo Australia

“[P]laying it on the Apple Watch makes you truly feel like you’re exchanging messages with an astronaut via a futuristic transmitter.” - Michael Andronico, Tom’s Guide

“For a few brief hours I cared – really cared – about the fate of a completely fictional character. I don’t think any other game I’ve played has made me feel that way before.” - Matt Thrower, PocketGamer

Editors’ Notes

The first in a series of groundbreaking text adventures, Lifeline kept us in suspense the whole time, desperately awaiting the next message from marooned astronaut Taylor. As you receive text notifications telling you what Taylor’s doing, you reply with instructions on which way to travel, whether to explore a derelict ship and other crucial decisions. The tension mounts as you try to help the castaway survive, and the option to rewind and pick different choices makes the game wonderfully replayable.

Great! Terrible prequel for game 2 though!

I thought this game was brilliant, a great new way to play and well worth trying. Download!

A note to the devs though:
The teaser for the second installment at the end of this game put me off buying it straight away! Not really what it should do!
For only your third input your only two possible replies are either ‘“Telephone Line” is my favorite RTO song”’ or
“So radio check” means...?”
It’s the first time (the first installment here never did this once) where I didn’t want to use either response, because the game was forcing me to play dumb. I liked the first game partly because it was an intelligent game, inasmuch as it never treated the player like an idiot. But now with this second one, straight away, I’ve got to either make an ELO reference and deliberately get it wrong, or pretend I don’t know what a radio check is. I chose the first reply as the lesser of two evils, and the reply was ‘You’re thinking of ELO. Electric Light Orchestra? Hoo boy. Is there any intelligent life in this sector?’, so now not only am I being given dumb choices, but I’m being insulted for your dumb choices?! It’s put me off playing it.

Initial Interest. Disappointed.

The game initially drew me in due to its decision making aspect. The start of the story is intriguing and desolate. The first issue I will present is the protagonist, Taylor. For a space explorer he is overly quippy and looks to give up at every opportunity. I understand that his lack of bravery is motivation for the player to take the lead and guide him to safety. There is no proper struggle to convince Taylor that my decision is correct or an ability to state my reasoning and this begins falling into my next issue. Lack of complexity. One choice or the other. Lack of information. Lack of items to store and use.I understand this is likely to be an issue of development and resources. But I can’t help feeling like there was more to be done. Especially when this is a paid app. Finally the conclusion of the story is rather rushed. Choices matter less as the end approaches I believe. I became slower to respond to the game. Taylor has by now become an annoyance. the ending tries to be overly dramatic. It falls flat in my opinion.
