Nanoleaf 9+

I was previously running v3.5.3 of the app with no problem - it allowed me to control both my nanoleaf panels and canvas panels. It then was upgraded to 4.0 and I no longer know how to control them. The apps dashboard does not show my devices - it just gives me options for a layout assistant, shop and to add new devices. I cannot work out how to control my existing devices via this upgraded app.

There are tutorials available within the app but these are equally useless because clicking on them does not display any tutorial - they just return the user back to the dashboard.

Basically the app is now essentially useless and hence the 1*. I have raised a support item with the developer and so now a case of wait and see.

Update - I eventually worked out how to get my devices to display - the app now shows a room name at the top of the dashboard - you have to click on the room and change it to All rooms as it defaulted on upgrade from the previous version of the app to a room that did not contain any devices so looked like nothing was there. The in-app tutorials still do not work. But on the basis that i eventually got it working I will increase the rating to 3* as it could still do with some redesign around discoverability and help/Q&A.

I have a set of the Hexagons, and I’ve experienced quite a buggy experience overall with the iOS app. The app doesn’t connect to my Shapes, sometimes when you minimise the app and go back on it disconnects even if it was connected.

It’s worked more than a few times, and when it works it’s really good. Layout is a tad confusing, but once you get used to it it’ll be fine. It’s great being able to control my shapes directly from my phone, but the connection issues need to be fixed - when I run the PC app it connects almost every time.

8/10 for the lights, 0 for the App. Why are you forcing users to sync their home with your app? It is totally unnecessary. I know I can select not to do this, but then I can’t use your app. So not really an option. I want to use your app to control your lights so I have access to all the cleaver stuff it can do that the Home App can’t. I don’t necessarily want it to be able to control my Hue lights through your app. So they don’t need to be imported. It’s also importing my air purifier, motion sensors and power points. None of which are lights. You can remove them from your app but unfortunately they are removed from my home as well. Nice. Make Home syncing an option not a necessity. The layout of the app is appalling, why is the text so ridiculously small? Why aren’t tiles wrapped to fit the screen? All in all it looks like the app was an afterthought.
