Patient Access 12+

Good but needs adjustments to functioning.

Patients Access used to be excellent when I could use it from the website. Since the website was ditched and it can only be accessed through this app. the functionality has been affected and not for the better. The poor formatting means I can't see my medication history anymore on my iPad. Moving from the Home Page to retrieve more information is no longer clear and easy as with the previous website. It is so disappointing that Patients Access is no longer excellent like it used to be. Someone needs to look at improving the functionality of the app. for iPad users or re-open the former website.
UPDATE: 16 August 2019. I have now purchased an Apple iPad6 to replace my old iPad2 which was eight years old. The functionality issues I was experiencing with my iPad2 have now been resolved using my new iPad6. Patient Access is a much better experience now.
The only thing I'd like changing is that the Log Out is on the Home Screen and much more prominent. At the moment, the only way to find it is to press 'More' at the bottom of the page which is odd.

Using app

Using this app is fantastic when ordering repeat prescriptions. However I wish we could use this system when ordering HRT as last time I had to ring up reception to enable a text to be sent to my mobile to fill in online forms. Unfortunately the phone was not answered until I waited 20 minutes then I was cut off so I drove round to the surgery to be told of this new system This new system did not work ( HRT Text) and although I was there talking to the receptionist she advised me that that was the only way I could order it ( this was Friday) so she told me she would re-send the text Monday morning. I waited until midday on Monday and still I had not received the HRT text which meant me calling them back again . Finally I got through and was sent a text. So I’m guessing I will have to do order my HRT this way again?
Please make it easier and less time consuming to order things like HRT & contraceptive pill.

Unusable due to 3rd party authenticator app

AT THE MOMENT THE 3RD PARTY AUTHENTICATOR APP REQUIREMENT IS THREATENING PATIENT HEALTH AS THE PATIENT ACCESS APP IS NO LONGER USABLE!!! App is now inaccessible and therefore unusable due to the requirement to install a 3rd party authentication app which simply doesn’t work! Having to now go into the GP surgery to order medication. How many patients now can’t order repeat medication due to this ill thought through change? What will happen if a patient becomes ill because of this ridiculous change? You’d think the muppets who manage the patient access app would understand that users are most likely to be older people who are not tech wizards. We tried multiple times to get it to work but couldn’t. Hopefully, just like the stupid ’click on the fire hydrants’ login ‘feature’ where the pictures were too small to see, someone in the NHS IT department will have the common sense to remove this Authenticator app requirement so patients can actually use the app like before. Haven’t these people ever heard of ‘user testing’? It is standard practice in commercial IT departments but it seems the NHS IT department doesn’t follow good practice. Some very simple testing with typical users would have easily shown them that this implementation was going to be a fiasco! Will they ever learn?
