Ratings and Reviews
Not worth it
Stats do not work. So many layers and tabs needed to work through to make changes. I could’ve saved a lot of money installing a dumb radiator and plugging it into a Sonoff S31. The Sonoff smart socket includes over current protection and energy monitoring and timer programming and also Alexa control. Rointe in its current state does none of that apart from timings Andre although they claim to have energy monitoring it does not work (even after spending hours trying). Sonoff can even be integrated into home automation systems such as openhab and home assistant which opens so many options. An example would be your heating knowing when you’re home or not. Really handy for families with erratic schedules where basic timer programs can often leave the home cold when you’re having a day off or working from home randomly. Really wish I’d read the other reviews before purchasing and gone with cheap heaters controlled via Sonoff and home assistant I would’ve saved a fortune. It’s outrageous that rointe are allowed to advertise product features which they know do not work. Do yourself a favour and look into what I’ve said. Not as complicated as it sounds and opens up infinite possibilities for adding other systems to your home once you’re up and running.
Worse app ever
This is the worse app ever. I have never wasted 1 hour of my life so pointlessly than when trying to set up connection between radiator and the app and yet still unsuccessfully. User Manual is not lined up with what the app says when going through the installation and connection setup. Complete waste of time and complete disappointment as the WiFi feature was the most important influencer of this purchase. I regret I didn’t check this when I still had the chance to return it cause I would do this immediately. Considering how expensive these radiators are I would expect decent quality but instead Rointe went for the cheapest UI possible with a 1990’s software behind. Sooo bad that I honestly want to throw this junk through the window.
Rointe D series WiFi setup
First of installation was easy and simple with the supplied template and instruction.
Now on to the App and wifi setup.
First of the manual instructions were not great, however with a bit of patience and time I figured it out.
The first time I tried I was informed my router security settings needed changing which I did.
I then managed to setup the radiator and at the final step when prompted to accept the changes the app would say unsuccessful, a quick call to support solved this as the radiator needs to have a successful wifi connection which is shown on the display and can take a minute before you hit accept changes.
The first radiator set up fine.
However on to the next one and after doing all the steps the wifi signal on the display had an x, another call to support and was told the display panel needs changing.
Thinking that was weird I redid the setup and this time it worked.
The next few radiators again would show the x next to wifi however in the end they all connected. I guess it’s a communication issue. Once you try to do the setup the 2nd time is a lot quicker as you already have the radiator details on your wifi setup either on your phone or iPad etc.
Once setup the app worked a treat, no issues so far. I have even used it a work to switch on all the radiators for when I got home.
Remember it only works on the 2.4ghz wifi and the security settings may need changing on your router, I set up with wifi extenders as well with no issues.
