Sync EV 4+

I’ve had my charge point for 9 months and the App is still very basic. The graph is all very nice but pretty pointless. What I need from the App is the ability to produce an invoice for the electric used each month so that I can claim it back from my employer as I have a company car. At the moment I have to take a screenshot of the usage each month, but this can only do the last 30 days, which is an issue when there are only 4 months with only 30 days in them. I was told last year that the invoice function was coming soon but it seems that Sync EV are not bothered about their users once they’ve been paid for the charging point. Maybe something for new customers to consider when choosing a charge point model to have installed.

The SyncEV intelligent home charging point is discreet and well featured. This associated app provides all that one needs. In particular for setting up scheduled charging useful for off peak ‘refuelling’. Just as well as our VW ID.3 is incapable of doing this on its own.
There does appear to be a limitation of the app in that you can enter tariffs for on and off peak but it doesn’t seem to calculate costs per session. Edit (6 June 2022) - Since a recent update of the app costs are now showing for charging events. I’m not sure I understand how they are calculated but they are present.
Other than that, there is no explanation in the app about features for entering RFID card details or mentioned public charging. Not a problem for me but a little confusing.
The SyncEV device itself sometimes drops of the 4G network (though we have strong signal on the driveway). Powering off and on fixes that but it can be annoying as the switch is indoors in the cellar.
I have found support from the company to be both prompt (via the request form) and effective. A few weeks back some features seemed to have gone missing from the app. SyncEV diagnosed a failed firmware update (of the charging unit). They pushed an update to the device and all was fixed without me having to do anything.
All in all, a good experience with SyncEV and this app. The app could do with some more help text however.

You can turn off the charge from the app and also schedule charging. That's about it in terms of working functionality. I guess you don't need to do too much more. Would be good if you actually received notifications when plugging in when it is set to REQUIRE AUTHENTICATION' - so that you can then start the charge. (I have app on my phone, wife charges the car at home whilst I'm out but don't get notified so she doesn't have charge to go out - luckily not urgent). The graph showing usage is a bit hit and miss - slow, sometimes doesn't display at all. My charge point is a few metres away from an excellent WiFi router so not WiFi issue. The charge point is decent but like so many elements of EV world , the app is an ALMOST GOOD product.
