One of the best Apps but could be better

This app has exactly the same name as an app by Agant Systems that leaves me wondering if Dorada purchased or otherwise acquired the app from Agant. It is poorer in a couple of aspects than the old app which I suspect may no longer be available. Firstly on the old app you could tap the station at which a train split and see details of where the other half was going while new app only warns you that the train will split. Secondly on the old app you could specify a via station for planning which this app does not appear to do. If you want it to be better than the old app then the National Rail app permits, in planning, specification of via / avoid / change at / don’t change at (which I found useful recently). The interface on this app is far superior to the National Rail app which is clunky and feels more responsive than it. One feature that is great is ability to select a station that train is calling at and see its departure board.

This is the iStation app you need

This is a fantastic app for keeping track of your most used stations and favourite journeys. It can set alerts for individual legs of the journey to let you know in real time any changes or delays that occur. Even notifies your Apple watch if you have one. Didn't think I would use the alerts as much as I have but once I got the hang of them it's great seeing where your outgoing train is sitting for the next leg of a journey as you pull into the station. A single click of a button can put every leg of the journey straight into your calendar as a set of events if desired. The overall design has been very well thought out. I've had 3 questions for the developer while getting the hang of it and these were answered clearly & quickly so has earned it's 5 stars I think.

Well worth the subscription

Uses the older style widget but that is because the newer style widgets don’t allow real-time updating (from developer - he is very responsive to suggestions). The widget updates automatically without fail and is very useful. If you subscribe (very reasonable at £9.99/year) the widget can work either using the nearest station or a favourite journey (ie. To work). The widget automatically switches the direction at lunchtime which is a neat feature making the widget worth its weight. When you click on a train it calls that specific train within the app so you’re straight there. Very good and well thought-out app.
