The trip today went very well. From the staff keeping us informed on how late the departure would be to cheerful, professional and efficient cabin crew. The chicken Teriyaki salad and a nice glass All aspects of the Air NZ were great. Beyond Air NZ control was the fact that I researched what gate we would be leaving as I have new knee and may have considered being assisted but no a handy Gate 3 so all good. No not all good the gate was changed to 9 which was ok at a stretch. Took my time and it was fine. Arriving in Sydney was all good too. The arrival hall was a good walk. Probably the length of two football fields. Then getting the bags was at carousel 4 and we’d appeared at Gate 12 after the customs hall. Not winging but at near 75 years and a new knee it seemed endless. No seats midway and a good half hour walk. Morale of the story make use of the assisted airport support. Just makes life a little easier and the great trip would be an excellent one.
Appalling Air NZ
I just want to get home
I have always chosen to fly Air NZ as it has been like coming home as soon as you step on the plane, no matter where you are in the world. Unfortunately my experience over the last 2 weeks has been extremely unpleasant and stressful. I had to change my booking with the recent cyclone to be with my dependent mother, while my husband and daughter flew out as planned. Manage My Booking would not allow me to make changes online so several hours hours on hold I managed to get through to the call centre. Alas the subsequent flight was cancelled and then the challenges really began. I tried to change the booking online but again it wouldn’t let me do it and advised to contact the call centre. Unfortunately when I tried to do this it recognised my number with the booking, advised that the call centre was unable to take calls related to the cancellation, sent a link to a messaging service and then disconnected. I immediately sent messages as I was on a tight timeline to get overseas for my daughter’s 21st birthday and was booked to fly home again in 11 days. In desperation I booked a flight with another airline and flew out the next day. Six days later I received a message reply asking what flights I would like to change. I appreciate there were staffing and scheduling challenges with the weather but I think Air NZ really dropped the ball. I am also currently waiting for the call centre to answer (just under 2 hours so far), to check that my return flights remain unaffected after receiving an unclear message about the original flight refund and I can’t check online… again. Finger’s crossed I get to fly home tomorrow.
Latest app update Nov22 is buggy
NZ freqflyer
Updated review 21 Jan 2023…app speed and reliability did improve significantly after I’d emailed Air NZ digital app development team and GM Loyalty several times, however in last 2-3 weeks it’s again become unreliable - updating this review because it’s constantly crashing again “Error. Service is unavailable at the moment. Please try again later”….and the Retry button does nothing! Still needs work team!!!Original post Nov 2022… Unfortunately the latest update (Nov 2022) is buggy - elite frequent flyer with many bookings as travel every week. App can take up to 30secs to open, and frequently crashes. Have sent feedback and screen recordings to cust service who were helpful but unable to give timeline for fix. No update nearly 3 weeks later….Testing process has clearly failed badly here and is frankly completely unacceptable!!! App appearance is improved altho shortcut to scroll thru summary of bookings (useful for frequent flyers with many bookings) seems to have been removed. App still takes a long time to refresh when updating bookings or after checking in using app - very slow to load boarding pass. This is unchanged from previous version. Hopefully your experience may be better!
Disrupted flights and booking services - international travel is hard work with airnz
Dizey K
There is not 1 part of my trip to New York that has not been disrupted. Direct flight to NYC cancelled altogether yesterday. Return flight on 2 December plane was apparently changed. List my prepaid seatings which I had paid $800 to secure. No refund gas appeared yet and apparently another 10 days till I get it. Another refund pending for list preferred seating on flight to NYC on 21 November. No seat allocated on now economy froHouston to La Guardia. Another long hold and call to get this sorted today. Air NZ contact staff apologetic and helpful. Doing their level best. This rates as the most disappointing and difficult booking experience ever my my decades of loyalSupport for Air NZ. Had vegan meals pop up both ways on earlier booking. Never seen that before or opted. Sorry airnz. There are alternatives now. My loyalty is wearing thin. Than you to the patient staff member Lele who must have spent mire than hour last night rebooking me. Chasing my refunds. Securing seating. Perhaps someone could help me with my seat fromHouston to la Guardia. Different airline so another call today. I’mOver it.
Kia ora!
We’ve made improvements and fixed bugs to ensure a smoother experience.
The refreshed home screen now lets you swipe between all the flights in your next trip, with more details quickly available.
We've also brought tracking of coffee orders in the lounge to the home screen, and updated the boarding pass to be easier to read for you and our crew.
Thanks for flying with Air New Zealand!
