Welcome to Gaspy and the Carmunity.
We are committed to helping Kiwi’s find the cheapest fuel prices closest to them with this convenient free App. The prices on Gaspy are crowd-sourced which means we rely on like-minded consumers to locate and share the best fuel prices in NZ for shared benefit. By working together we can all enjoy cheaper gas and put pressure on Big Oil to maintain competitive pricing .
The search for cheap fuel is not just economically rewarding but also surprisingly fun, especially when you start competing for points and prizes. Gaspy’s coloured spy hat system demonstrates your rank within the Carmunity and like a black belt in karate enables you to gloat to those with lesser hats. Take on the All Time Leader and compete for the coveted Yellow Hat or enjoy beating your friends on the Weekly Leader Board. However you use Gaspy you’ll enjoy the savings of Cheaper Gas Together.

Works, but is ugly as anything
This is not a pretty app. I remember spotting it in the App Store some time ago now and thinking that it was worth giving some grace from it possibly being a newcomer. It’s not a newcomer any more, and it’s still ugly, plus not very usable.
Being strapped for choice is a sad reason to admire the strong points of this app. Please make it usable and good-looking. It matters.
Can’t even get started...
I virtually never allow apps to use my location. Most have a search function that lets me decide what I want to do. So after I’d registered, when Gaspy asked me if it could access location I said no. That gave me an error message telling me I had to allow notifications that wouldn’t go away. I had to back out of Gaspy. I did that and tried to go back in. The error message was still there. Start again I thought.
I deleted the app and then reloaded it. I clicked on it to use it and it asked me to register once more. I tried to but got told that my email address had already been registered. No surprise there... but there was no login option. Sigh.
I guess I’m now begrudgingly prepared to give it access but I can’t log in ...
How about some better ‘what if’ thinking during the programming folks ... and since a friend tells me I just have to have this app what fix or workaround can you offer?
Great to check prices before you head out
My main annoyance is that I can only confirm 2 prices before I get the message “only a few long distance confirms allowed”. When I do my shopping I go past at least 5 petrol stations and I note the prices. I don’t have data on my phone so I input them when I get home, but I can only do two, even the station closest to me says it is long distance! ?
