It’s about time iOS got a SNAPPER app been a long time coming. So don’t have to stress whether or not I have credit on my Snapper. BUT when I logged out of my Snapper app it doesn’t register saying email or password wrong which is so frustrating. Have had to create whole new accounts to re-register, but Metlink are awesome helping trying to sort it out. Please try and fix this problem.

I tried to top up my snapper card using the app and it kept on having issues, and interactions with buttons felt delayed, sometimes the loading icon would appear and overlap on the button text. The app would timeout after a while and log me out of my account which I’ve had to log back in multiple times. After a while it wouldn’t even let me log in saying that either my email or password was incorrect (which was confusing since I used whichever log in I had saved on my keychain). Then I tried to reset my password, which I tried three times and still have not received a password reset email. I then gave up and tried calling the customer service number. I was hung up on the first time before the call even went through, and the second time waited a long while before giving up. Really disappointing since it is not the first time I have had issues with the app. Unsure if it’s technical mishaps in the background but very frustrating since it’s the main way to top up my bus card. I appreciate the detail put in some of the UI elements, but it is really overshadowed by the slow and frustrating functionality.

With how often the Wellingtonians in my life sigh like listless war-wives and sing the city’s praises, I’d expected at least a little bit more from the city than stepping off the plane and immediately having to spend $20 ($10 fee for a piece of plastic and $10 to top up enough to leave…). Definitely wasn’t a great first impression. This is a review for an app though, not a public transport system, so I’ll just say that the set-up and user interface on this thing is irritating to use, needlessly long-winded, and I very much Did Not like the fact that things like the youth discount were seemingly hidden under like six drop down menus. You know how the quickest way to figure out if someone from Wellington is to talk to them for two minutes because they’ll tell you? The quickest way to figure out if I’ve used snapper is going to be a similar method, because I’m going to be complaining about this for a while.

App tuns smooth enough. However, it seems ludicrous to need to scan funds onto a card. Either transfer it behind the curtain to a card associated with an account or just allow it to be stored on the phone and use the phone to scan on. Also, the RFID on the cards is horrible and takes forever to be read by the card readers. Finally, travel passes purchased don’t appear to be detailed in a simple to find spot. Had to hunt through menus, which is ridiculous when a large proportion of customers must want this info front and centre when they view their card details
