Great app, need more basic functions.

Great app from HSBC! However, should allow clients to see more transactions instead of just 20, be able to see pending debit card transactions, change debit card spending limits, activate/temp lock debit cards, amongst many other basic banking functions.

This app is the worst banking app I have ever encountered

This app seems to be designed by people who have never used banking apps and who do not know how online banking works. First, when I received my credit card and wanted to activate it through the app, it was not obvious at all how to do it. The letter that came with the card simply said to do it through the app without any other instructions. That would have been fine if the app had made it easy but no. I only managed to activate my card after clicking through everything on the app.

Then, I wanted to pay my credit card bill online but there’s no way to do it through the app nor the online banking page. I finally found some information on setting up an eGIRO in the FAQ section. But I cannot simply set it up online. I have to send an SMS (??!!), after which I received an auto-generated acknowledgment without any follow-up instructions. My only conclusion after this frustrating experience using HSBC’s pathetic attempt at online banking is that the people who designed their banking app and internet banking page do not want customers to actually use them. Please check out other banks’ banking apps and internet banking pages on how to design them because this is simply ridiculous.

The 2000s called and would like their experience back

HSBC SG is probably the worst digital bank in Singapore in terms of functions and UX. Reasons: 1) The app is slow and buggy. 2) it’s not even possible to add a new payee via the app, one can only do a one-time transfer. I have to go into the Internet banking portal from my PC to save the payee. 3) All transactions are written in with CAPS LOCK which makes it really difficult to read. The digital banks such as Revolut have solved this a long time ago. 4) Not possible to create or change term deposits from within the app — I had to email my RM to have my $s moved out of my TD account without getting charged. 5) Digital secure key is theoretically a good idea, but once I want to make transaction inside of Internet banking I have to enter a six-eight digit codes back on my phone to authorise, which is really hard. Why not just push a notification to my phone which I can then authorise with Face ID?
All in all HSBC feels like a bank from the last century, even for Premier customers. I cannot recommend.
