Don’t get me wrong, I do think this is a pretty useful and somewhat helpful app to use for purposes related to communicating with incarcerated loved ones that are locked up in certain facilities where NCIC is the main source for inmate to family and vice versa messaging/video visiting… it’s just that I’ve had unexplained scenarios for multiple situations that I’m just gonna say happened for no good reason on there. First of all, obviously your not allowed to talk to inmates AT ALL about anything related to violence, crime, sexuality, narcotics etc. which of course is reasonable. What isn’t reasonable is that the administrators don’t block those type of inappropriate chats it seems like, while often time me or the person I’m typing too won’t even be able to see our thread despite our conversation being totally appropriate and this is my only assumption as to why this happens after seeing a message that’ll say “Messaging has been blocked by this facility” to which I’ll then realize I’m blocked from messaging any facilities, only for messaging to become available again the next day. My only other opinion is that it’s a glitch in the system. Other than that, it’s literally impossible for me to send a video to my friend in jail because of a message that keeps popping up about my face needing to be shown in the video, when that’s all I’m trying to record is my face which is the same as what my expression was in the facial recognition you have to set up whenever creating a new profile on it. Lastly, the very small selection of GIFs that are available to send to each other are so lame and stupid, it’s almost pointless to use and they wanna charge an extra 10 cents more (I know that’s nothing but still) to send those as opposed to the 25 cents per message, which is 1 good thing I’ll say about this app since a quarter of a dollar for each chat sent is alright in my opinion. Anyways, those are my main problems with this app otherwise I’m at least thankful I get the opportunity to talk to my hot ex-girlfriend through NCIC.
Hi, and thank you for sharing your opinion and feedback! I’d like to provide some insight on a few of the points you mentioned. - Each facility we service has its own guidelines for messaging. We respect their individual preferences, which may include blocking content they deem inappropriate. - Regarding video messaging, could you clarify when you see the message requiring a face? Does it appear during the recording session or after you hit "send"? Once a video message is recorded, it’s analyzed to confirm that your face is within the frame. - We add new GIFs to our system each month. You can type in a keyword to browse available options. If you have specific GIFs you'd like us to consider adding, feel free to suggest them—we’d be happy to review and consider them for the platform, as long as they meet our guidelines. Please feel free to follow up by reaching out to our support team at Mobileapp@ncic.com. Thanks again for your input!
