I have been a bookshelf reader forever. I think since it first became a thing. I love bookshelf and the access I have to so many books, but the new version it very frustrating for me. It doesn’t fit my phone screen, I have no access to chapters or even the forward buttons. I can not see all the options on the screen and my entire organized library that I worked on for years disappeared. I do like the links for authors and genre, but my actual reading/ listening experience has become very frustrating. I use an iPhone mini, which may contribute to the issues, but the product should have the capability to zoom in or out and be functional no matter what format is being used.

Thank you for your feedback. Our latest version has fixed problems with users who have defaulted larger font sizes or zoomed displays. THis includes the iPhone mini. I want to love it, but…

Update July 25, 2025:With the new app update now my app won’t even open. It opened one time, long enough for me to see the screen issue was resolved, then closed out and won’t open again. I restarted my phone to no avail. Sad. ☹️I’m wondering if the average rating is removed from the app store because it is so low? It’s sad because we want to live this app! We listen to A LOT of audiobooks. (Across our family we average 8-10 audiobooks a week primarily in Audible and Libby) In the past the Deseret Book App was a solid, albeit a bit behind everyone else, option. It has just gotten worse and worse. With the latest upgrade, the app interface does not fit my phone screen, making it impossible for me to use some of the features like the sleep timer. I saw responses in other reviews that this is due to the font size on my phone. I changed my font size, closed out of the app and came back in with the same result. I wonder if it has to do with using smaller phone options, like the iPhone SE or iPhone 16E? I don’t know. I do know that it is very frustrating to be paying for content that is trapped in a terrible App experience.

Thank you for your feedback. We do test on all models of iPhone and iPads that meet the minimum requirements for our app, including iPhone SE and iPhone 16E. Most likely you have "Display Zoom" turned on. Go to your general settings -> Display & Brightness -> Display Zoom" and set to Standard. WIth Display Zooming turned on, it does make it hard for us to fit much of the detail on the screen. We have logged tickets to look into ways to make this easier with Display Zooming turned on. Also, please feel free to contact our customer service with other questions, concerns, or feedback.
Clean, unlimited reading/listening

I absolutely love reading. There are very few stories that I have met that I haven’t enjoyed. This app provides unlimited reading (or listening - if you’re a busy mom like me. Hello, multi-tasking! Definitely makes chores less of a chore!). My favorite genre is romance. “Romance” to some means no filter and all the details. That’s not something I like to read or hear. I’ve had a hard time in the past not knowing what level of “spice” a book may contain, but on DeseretBookshelf, I don’t have to worry about that. The stories are “closed door” and have no swearing/bad language. I really love this app!

Almost everything about the app is excellent! I love it. It’s useful. Most of it is user-friendly. The only reason I gave it a three star is because you cannot easily pull up an entire list of all the books… for example, if I put in a partial title of the book, or even the name, Jesus because I know Jesus is in the title, not very many books will appear, when I know there are many many more books with that name in it. The search needs to be fixed. Also, it has troubles getting you back to the book/spot you were on in the right spot where you left ofspot where you were listening to an Audible book. Although that part may have been fixed. Thank you for this experience ONLINE!
In this version we fix two issues that affect some users:
* Some users continually are logged out when they start the app. This should no longer happen.
* Some users had problems with ebooks not displaying correctly. This has been fixed.
