i started using this app with a skeptical mindset, as i very rarely download utility apps that do not have a free trial. i also don’t love the use of AI, especially in creative spaces, but i understand how hard it is to get an app of this caliber off the ground.overall, this app’s method of curbing screen time is unlike any tool i’ve ever seen or used before. it gently pushes you through phases of improvement, and allows you to engage with time-sucking apps in a neutral manner instead of making them ‘forbidden’, which just makes you want to use them more. the fact that user feedback and development roadmaps are integrated into the app is a nice touch that really humanizes the whole experience. the new challenge function is great and i can’t wait to see it develop more. i definitely see this becoming a huge deal and an incredible tool for so many people.the one thing i’ll say is that i encourage the creator to put some of the mandatory subscription money towards phasing out the use of AI in the app. i understand that this money goes primarily towards maintenance and adding new features, and i don’t mind paying as i’ve already gotten so much out of the app in the short time i’ve had it. but i would feel much more comfortable continuing to subscribe knowing that my money is being put towards supporting other small creators, even if that mean new features come at a slower rate.

This app is absolutely amazing! My New Year’s resolution is to reduce my screen time, so I figured I’d start now. I have a social media addiction and I’m trying to better myself. Within a day of having it, my screen time reduced by 48 percent. My Screen Time report says it’s down 48% from last week. I had nine and a half hours of screen time last Wednesday, and this Wednesday I had not even three hours, 2 hours and 47 minutes. I’m going straight to bed instead of scrolling in bed and getting out of bed much faster because I’m not doing a morning scroll. I literally wake up, purchase a minute of screen time with my coins, send my Snapchat streaks to my two people, and that’s it. I actually hop out of bed. Then I’ll occasionally check my Instagram messages throughout the day. Purchase five minutes here and there. It seriously cut out my doom scrolling instantly because I want to conserve my coins. I saw it was only seven bucks a month, so I figured I’d try a month and see what happened. Best seven bucks I’ve ever spent. I may only need the app for another month before I just get used to not being on my phone as much. I’ve started texting people’s actual phone numbers rather than going straight to a social platform, which stops me from doomscrolling. I take the app more seriously than just the built in screen time blocker, because I paid for it, so I want to get my moneys worth. I’m usually pretty skeptical of apps that don’t offer a free trial, but trust me this app is worth every penny. If you feel like you need it, just get it. I figured only seven bucks so I didn’t have much to lose if it wasn’t an app for me. I downloaded some other apps before this and deleted them because they were asking for like 30 dollars a year and they didn’t have just a monthly plan. I definitely wasn’t taking that gamble. I knew I wasn’t spending that much on an app that I wasn’t entirely sure about. I found this app through an ad on Instagram while doomscrolling.

Chemically and You’ve essentially given yourself a “free” gambling addiction, but instead of asking for your money to play they take your time. As adults however, we can’t just abandon our phones because we need them for essential communication and keeping in touch with current events. Just as a gambling addict will always return to the casino until they are banned or unable, you will always redownload Instagram. Getting and paying for an app or other screen limiter is the first step to getting better. Rules you place on yourself about addiction will not help you, as you made the rules and you know any consequences you place can be negotiated out of with yourself. You don’t have willpower in addiction. Realistically I want to delete app, but I know I spent money on it so I don’t want to waste that money. Big factor is I spent money on this. But now my homework is done, my house is cleaner, and it’s only been 3 days because I got 5 hours of my day back.

I was skeptical at first because I couldn’t try it out with a free trial, but I read the reviews and took a chance on the app. It has only been a month or so now, but it’s totally changed my life. I highly recommend the app. I feel like it’s a good thing that there is a paywall, because I take it much more seriously since I put money into it. And I feel like the developers are doing a great job and deserve the money. It’s very affordable too. Definitely worth the money. I had tried so many time blocking stuff before, but I absolutely love this better, because I can earn my screen time. It’s a much better phycology.
