My wife had a brain tumor removed and lost speech temporarily while the brain recovered. She had full comprehension and knew the words to say she just couldn't speak them. She could type on her phone perfectly fine, and this app coupled with a good quality Bluetooth speaker was a godsend. - it gave her a voice. The "poppy" voice is a very nice natural female voice. I have one suggestion. Autocorrect - either as a default or at least as an option to just use the phone's built in autocorrect. The predictive text is awesome, but in the days after the surgery as my wife became more comfortable looking at her phone and typing, we found she could type what she wanted to say faster than selecting words from predictive text (which was awesome at first or for those with difficulty typing). In our situation we also found it much more natural to turn off the setting to speak every word as it's being typed, and instead write out the sentence, then tell the app to speak. However, the lack of auto correct on individually typed words really slowed her down. We all have gotten spoiled by autocorrect so it seems unnatural and difficult to type without it.
Developer Response
Thank you for the kind review! We just wanted to drop in to say our latest update added autocorrect as a toggleable feature in settings. It’s off for existing users, but will be on by default for anyone new.

This app is a life saver, on August 3rd i went into the hospital with Covid and was sedated for about 2 months. Mind you I’m 21 and I had severe pneumonia and was only given 20% chance of living i got off the ventilator eventually but in order for me to live they did a tracheotomy on me. I couldn’t speak when i woke up and it hurt so much to see my family and the love of my life and not be able to tell them how much i love them, but this app helped me communicate with my family and nurses as well as doctors, i don’t know where i would be without this app when i was in the hospital. Today i have recovered 100% with no long term affects and I’m very grateful and now i just have a tracheotomy scar and feeding tube scar but hey it’s better than not being alive. Thank you to every developer of this app.
Worst AAC app I’ve ever tried.

Some of these reviews must be paid for because this is the most user unfriendly app I’ve ever had. It gives no information on how to use it. Maybe it does if you pay the $13 monthly subscription for premium but it’s mostly just a very limited and confusing text to speech app and not an AAC. When you open it it tells you that you have a 500 word limit and that means every word in a phrase as well. It goes down as you choose words. On the main screen it only lists 27 basic words that have no categories to make it easy to find and put together. You can search for words and more come up but scrolling down it doesn’t scroll down to more words like it looks as if it will. I can’t find a way to log and store phrases. This is a scam app targeted to disabled people for an outrageous amount of money and an unnecessary subscription. I recommend Speech Assistant AAC instead, it costs a lot of money for an app but it’s well organized and not a subscription that you would have to consistently pay in order to help you communicate.

This app is amazing. I recently got a tracheostomy and was unable to speak. This app completely solved my problem. There are a variety of very nice voices to use. It often has a useful list of words to pick from for auto completeFeature Suggestions:The alert isn’t loud enough and can’t get people’s attention. At least that’s been my experience. It would be so nice if you could reorder your list of sayings!! Please add this!!Another extremely helpful one is to add groups or collections to your sayings. I’ve got so many in my list now that it can take a while to scroll through and find what I want. And since I can’t adjust the ordering, that makes it slower too, because I could order the list alphabetically or some way to find things faster. Please add this!!!I absolutely love this app which is why I paid for it! I looked at a lot of speech apps and this one was better in every way.
