Ratings and Reviews
Not terrible, but not great
This app is pretty nice looking and fairly easy to navigate. It’s got most of the features that the full site has, but not all of them and not as expansive. It’d be cool if the app had that feature that the full site has where there’s an info button next to all the features. I’m new to using insurance, so that info button and even some helpful videos would be cool.

It works eventually
Logged in to the BCBSMA app to find out if a specific doctor was covered under my plan. I found the “Find a Doctor “ tool easily, but then it was incredibly difficult to use. I was asked what I was searching for. I already knew the doctor’s name I was interested in, but I had to specify I was looking for Medical Care and then Specialist and then Orthopedist. Not terrible yet. That search returned 154 results. Then I noticed a search magnifying glass icon at the top of my search results. I clicked that and typed the doctor’s name where it said “Search doctors, hospitals, procedures and more”. Then it searched for “Flow Cytometry (Additional Marker)”. What does that even mean? The search results listed 2 hospitals, but I was searching for a specific orthopedic doctor. At the top of the page is a “back” button so I clicked that, thinking I could try a different search, but that brought me back to the home screen. So I picked Find a Doctor —> Medical —> Specialist—> Orthopedist and got 154 results. I still have not found a way to search for doctor Jones in my city. I eventually gave up and just waded through the 16 pages of results until I found him. Oh, and the app logged me out twice during my searching “For Security Reasons “ , probably because it took 30 minutes to find out if my doctor is in network.
Just use the website
App is terrible- very difficult to navigate, unable to view dependent claims/information as the subscriber, back button does not bring you back to the previous screen, it takes you back to where you were on the homepage. The user agreements you must read & sign before viewing the my financials section is not optimized for cell phone viewing, the text margin is much too wide and you can’t scroll side to side to see all the text. The website works better for everything.
