Holland Sentinel - Holland, M‪I‬ 12+

When you open this app it turns off your music stream. I like to read while listening to podcasts or music. With this app you are left silent.

Starting in October, it appears the Sentinel is charging an enormous (relative to the perceived value) fee of $10/mo. to view content that is meteocre at best and already ad-supported. This pops up after 15 articles are read, then does not even offer subscription info. I had to sleuth it out on website instead of getting the info in the app. I love to stay informed on local news, but they've got to be nuts. As far as the app goes, there are so many others that have better interface, ability to search content, better category organization, ability to favorite or bookmark content, access to archive content, etc. sentinel: invest in better reporting, more frequent updates to content, less ads, and a better app... Then we'll discuss paid content. As for now, I'm going elsewhere.

Content is often not up to date. The few times content is updated, the older version is left as a separate entry under the "breaking news" category. Also, I've seen enough full-screen advertisements for dating sites pop on the screen for a lifetime. I understand this paper is struggling. Wish they would focus on well-written content that was up to date.
