This app used to be good. I used to be able to scrub videos before selecting how much video I wanted to download. Now the scrubbing doesn’t work at all.The worst part of this app is that it refuses to connect to a camera unless I enable location sharing with the app. There is nothing on the app screen that will say (in English) that location sharing must be enabled to make the app work, and yet it is required. This is why you’re seeing all the 1 star review, a critical bug. However, I don’t believe this was a mistake. Why on earth does the app need my location? If that doesn’t scream user data spying then I don’t know what does. I have no faith in this company’s privacy practices.There is a new update now. I’m afraid that if I take it, it might force me to grant it more permissions. It can already access my photos.

I have been using a Yi dash cam for a few years. The app has been working since day one. Lately (2024 October) I was checking if i can connect to the app again before a road trip. I was able to connect but you need to manually go to your phone’s WiFi and connect the dash cam. Tips: You can’t rely on the automatic prompt feature anymore and you need to manually connect it. If you can’t see the videos from the app’s album, just format the sd card. I did it on my pc and I believe the dash cam also have an option. Just do both and now you will be able to see the album’s recorded videos.This app doesn’t deserve a 2 stars so if you find it helpful, consider rating this app again.

I was having trouble downloading videos to my iPhone. I contacted YI and their response time was excellent. They instructed me on things to try but to no avail I still was unable to download. They sent me a new camera under the 1 year warranty. I received it in less than a week. They also emailed me a prepaid label to return the original camera. When I received the new camera I had the same problem. Through email discussions they were able to resolve my issue. Wonderful and thoughtful. They are on top of responding to you quickly. If you are having the same trouble, turn off your cellular data. That does the trick. Also, reformat your sd card to fat 32.

I’ve been using this car camera for a while now, and honestly, it’s been more frustrating than helpful. Every time I get into the car, I have to connect it manually — it doesn’t turn on or connect automatically like it should. This gets really annoying, especially when you’re in a rush.On top of that, the date and time are never accurate. It resets frequently and doesn’t update automatically, so I constantly have to go into the settings to correct it. That defeats the purpose of having a dash cam for proper recording and evidence.Overall, it’s not user-friendly and lacks the basic automation features you’d expect. Not recommended unless you’re okay with setting it up from scratch every single time.
