If you only do one thing to prepare for birth, let this be it!! This was hands down the most helpful thing for my labor. I only started listening to this in the last 5 weeks of pregnancy but I wish I had found it sooner! I listened to it every night in the bathtub and sometimes falling asleep at night. By the time labor started, I thought I’d be listening to it more but my body was consumed by an outside force that only allowed me to focus inward. My husband took some videos during my labor and I heard myself speaking some of the hypnosis phrases out loud. I have no memory of this!! I unfortunately never got around to listening to the “pushing” tracks so I wonder if that would have gone a bit differently for me. I did listen to the postpartum tracks in the weeks following my birth which really helped me mentally. The nature sounds we’re also really helpful for getting my newborn to sleep. I have been recommending this app to all my pregnant friends. I will be using this again from the beginning of my next pregnancy! While the app itself can be a bit clunky at times, the content is incredibly valuable — it helps with sleep, offers affirmations, an eBook plus workbook, and looks like it will be very helpful during birth as well. I appreciate the small tasks each day because they fit into my schedule easily. After the free trial I took the plunge and paid for the monthly subscription, expecting to only stick with it for a couple months until the baby is born (I’m 35 weeks pregnant now). Apparently you get a 50% discount on the MasterClass with a subscription so I gave it a try (note: the first time I tried purchasing the class Apple took my money and still showed the class as unavailable. But I requested a in-app purchase refund and the second time I tried the purchase it worked). Compared with other online childbirth courses that are hundreds of dollars, this was something I could justify the cost for!

I downloaded this app the last month of pregnancy as a crash course in Hypnobirthing and to help me calm the anxiousness I was feeling giving birth during a global pandemic. I was pregnant with my 4th baby and had done natural birth previously, but never using Hypnobirth techniques per se. I listened to these meditations every night as I was falling asleep and throughout the day during a little nap or rest. I completely believe that the compounding benefits of using it are real! When it came time to deliver my baby I had the most controlled and peaceful, unmediated birth. I didn’t even yell out in pain once and was able to calmly direct my husband and doctor in what support I needed. After my baby was born my doctor, who has been delivering babies for 40 years, said “That was the easiest birth I’ve ever seen. It was like slow motion. It was hard to tell when you were pushing it was so quiet.” I’m grateful to have had this app as one of my birth preparation tools, it was so helpful!

The gentlebirth app, with premium purchase, is an incredible program to follow throughout pregnancy and postpartum. I love Tracy’s voice and cadence throughout the variety of meditations. The curated meditations per day and accessibility to the entire lot of meditations, ability to love and save your favorites, every meditation broken down into its category and easy to find, are all features that make the app itself very user friendly and it also has a nice visual appeal. On top of the app having so many meditations to follow, the guidebook and workbooks are wonderful bonuses to add to the wealth of knowledge that Tracy has cultivated in her program.
