In this update: • Offline readiness — see at a glance whether a flight can be flown without a connection. A route, a Direct To or a saved route is checked along the track and 10 NM either side: the map, the VFR chart and the terrain of every region, the databases, the airport diagrams, and the NOTAMs and weather on the device. One button downloads everything the flight needs, and a capsule on the map shows the progress. • Data status — More ▸ Data status is a pre-flight check: GPS and location access, the connection, how fresh the weather and NOTAMs are, offline maps and terrain along your route, and the databases; one tap copies a summary for support. • Airports — a new, smaller database: US frequencies and navaids from the FAA’s official NASR data, and current frequencies, runways and about 2,000 more fields in Europe from openAIP. • Airport symbols — large and medium airports are drawn with their own runway layout. • Fixes — SIGMETs, AIRMETs and pilot reports refresh every five minutes again; “Show private” hides private fields again; map symbols come back after Center; a paused download no longer resumes on its own. In this update: • Airspaces — rebuilt with current boundaries: openAIP for 128 countries, 52 more than before, and the FAA for the US. • TMAs — drawn and alerted as terminal control areas, with their own colour and filter; unclassified areas grouped under Other areas, no longer shown as class A. • Radio zones — ATZ and TIZ areas now raise a “Radio contact mandatory” alert with the frequency to call. • Safer database updates — every download is checked over a secure connection before it replaces your data, so an interrupted update leaves the old data in place. • openAIP is credited on the map and in the airspace details. Air Navigation now draws three concentric "time rings" around your current position — 10, 20, and 30 minutes — sized live by your ground speed. Each ring is labeled with the distance you'll cover in that time (e.g. 10 min · 18.5 NM), so you can instantly judge whether the next waypoint, weather cell, or alternate is within range. Designed for real flight conditions. The rings only appear when the data is trustworthy: • Active above ~30 kt ground speed — taxiing and ground-jitter stay clutter-free • Hidden when GPS accuracy drops below useful precision • Smoothed speed-input prevents the rings from "pulsing" with every GPS tick • Auto-updates as your speed or heading changes — no manual refresh needed Reads in your preferred units. Labels automatically follow your distance-unit setting (NM, KM, or SM) — change the unit, and the rings re-label on the next update. On by default — turn off when you want. Open Map Layers → Annotations and toggle Time rings off. The setting persists across launches. • Helicopter hover: the position arrow now switches to compass heading the moment ground speed drops — no more multi-second lag while the stale GPS track lingers. • On the ground: an invalid GPS track no longer causes the arrow to jump to a false southerly bearing. It stays steady on the compass reading instead. • In flight with a weak GPS fix: when the GPS course turns noisy, the app automatically falls back to the more reliable compass heading until the signal stabilises.
